If it wasn't for the non-runners in the 6th race ya probably would have got it twice - Paid close to E650 , what a sickener.

Some good picks.. You'd have made a nice profit if you did reverse forecasts on the races where you picked two.

I don't do placepots but the dividends were crap yesterday, apart from N.Abbot. Out of the other 4 meetings I think the E16 or so at Leicester was the best.

It was a small dividend at 19.4 but got it up *8 giving a 155 placepot return...unfortunately the 55 profit was lost by Gaot and fightfortheroses. I have two outstanding bets at Newbury this evening e/w on Balzac and Persiansun

Leffesem I love placepots and recommend them to anyone who wants a small stakes interest in a days racecard. A few things about placepots sicken me, going down in the first leg or the last leg....nonrunners reducing the places to 2places or 3 (Handicaps) or win only 4 runners, when I dither between two horses and pick the wrong one hence why I often have two selections eventhough it increases the stakes and horses that fall at last hurdle or jockeys that fail to ride it out for a place...

Wasn't having a go at picking more than one selection in a race - it's the smart thing to do. I'd say the majority that do placepots have several lines at a meeting fairly regular.

Good luck with the two at Newbury - I see a lot of non-runners there.. Bloody going change most likely. I was thinking of having a look at Friday's cards myself but might as well stick a pin on them rather than trying to assess form without knowing what the ground will be like

Good day out today I made one or two changes this morning to my preselections and got one placepot up. I enjoyed 3pints and a burger while watching and I had 2horse in leg6. Unfortunately pocketsquare came last at York to drop the pot. Lost big on Dawnrising and allezallezallez wished I had a little on tactical but didnt. Got turned over by the staff at boylesports when they refused to pay out on a quadpot at Haydock 3/7/20 in the 200 I picked 6 +8 so should have got the dividend *2 as they both placed. The shopkeeper told me that only one result counted and it gives me twice a chance to place but not twice the return anyway it was small amounts so I gave up discussing as I dont do quadpots that often and tend to do placepots in ladbrokes or paddys...

I also had a small win bet on arthurianfable only 3rd but I was suprised that Gavroche won at marketrasen I had a small win bet at 13/2 and odds drifted to 9-1. I hope that horse obliges for us pottokblue; some money for him as well.

As far as placepots go I think it takes way too much time to study every race. And then you might pick a 20/1 second in the 6th, but the 4/7 fav might just get up for third and you're thinking why did I waste my time and not just plump for the jolly in that race :pac:

On the other hand if you tell yourself you're gonna do a placepot you might find 2 or 3 that you could have a single on that otherwise you would not have seen, so there is that. Might give it a go myself. The more races studied, the more win and each way opportunities can be found; and lay bets too if a person has an online a/c.

Still, a lot of time and concentration required

I must admit I have done the placepot when I remember to, at the course, but normally it's a bit of a rush job. It looks easy, picking 2 each race just to place but in reality it is anything but.

Going to keep an eye on this thread. Good luck with it. One of those bets that really takes time, race by race. I'm retiring in a couple of years, looking forward to having the time then.

Best of luck pottokblue. Should be a good one to get up twice. I see Nathan Moscrop got a 10 day ban for not pulling up Im Too Generous in the 4.40. Apparently the horse was lame - must have happened after he jumped the last - he did the right thing imo? Johnson wouldn't have gotten a ban for that :mad:
