I would have hated COVID-19 lockdown in an apartment block. At least I could relax around my own house and not worry about someone coughing on me as we passed each other in the hall. You are lucky in that you work in the same town where you live. Would you still like to live in your apartment if you had to commute to Dublin for work? Regarding walking to the shop, I commute to work so it's easy to stop in on the way home somewhere to get what I want. I only live 3km from my nearest town so it's only 3 mins in the car to get to the shop eitherways. Not big into pints so I only go to the pub an odd time and it's easy enough and cheap enough to get a taxi home.

We need to be encouraging people to live in the town and developments like this are part of the solution to our dying town.

Derek Devoy Ltd. is developer seeking PP for 78 Apts. on site. Baffled as to why he never (and it's 2-3 years since that site sold I think?) secured the place. Edited to add it hasn't gone live on Carlow Co. Co. site yet.

They were around during the celtic tiger and built some sh*te apartments in Dundalk that needed remediation works. Anytime I hear of any nordie developers I shudder at the thought... ours were bad enough but those crooks from across the border gave us Priory Hall. Anyway, the council seem to have made a balls of putting that site on the vacant site register and I think the developer won his appeal. Its up on the pleanala website. I won't be holding my breath waiting for something to happen there. This crowd own the site, I believe.https://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/dundalk-residents-face-eviction-on-fire-safety-grounds-1.2629953
