ACitizenErased wrote: » I don't see why they need to release a massive statement about one fella from a club testing positive. I can imagine many GAA players in Cork have tested positive. There was no big statement from the county board when the 3 Carbery teams were shut down. A club statement is more than enough.

ACitizenErased wrote: » There was confirmed cases in West Cork which is why the clubs shut down. No county board statement. It's completely unnecessary.

They came back negative and the clubs reopened. Of course there was confirmed cases, why would the clubs be shut down if there wasn't?
big_drive wrote: » No your information is all wrong. That’s not how things work whatsoever. There was no cases diagnosed in GAA players. The simple way of explaining is this. -there was a house party in West Cork. - it was attended by a large number of people including 3 GAA players from the 3 clubs in question - another person at the party was diagnosed with the virus. This person is not a GAA player - but obviously the GAA lads were in close contact with the individual over a period of time at the party. - as a result they needed to be tested plus people they were in contact with needed to isolate and watch for symptoms, this would have included their teammates - results negative so free to continue So just to clarify at no stage did any player actually have the virus. You asked why the clubs closed? That’s what a club must do if there is a “possible” case. A club can’t risk continuing and hoping things come back negative The situation in North Cork is different as the player is CONFIRMED with the virus. A whole different ball game. And that why the County Board needed to make a statement on it. By making a proper statement it may stop gossip and stories going around. Details can get mixed up otherwise, like you had heard there was players in west cork diagnosed with the virus and that’s incorrect.

big_drive wrote: » Never ever said anywhere that a player tested positive after training or played matches. I have heard different as I read the official statements on it. I’m not going on rumours Have you a link to where it was said a GAA player in West Cork tested positive? I’d be interested in reading it, thanks.
