No prizes for guessing who paid I would say but if you go back to the date it was released on this thread, I think it was April 12th or 13th, there’s some info about the people involved and so on

According to the large spiegel article he is heavily involved in the hosting facility in Germany - with details about a 700k investment in a IT business, presumed the bunker. Its also suggested the bunker facility didn't make much money with the large hosting costs and they looked for additional revenue streams - with encrochat style systems suggested.

But seemingly there is nothing official to link him to the bunker and the investment, apart from how 'Mr Green' met there a few times and was photo'd with the main technician/front for the company.

The defence as you mention is expected to be 'we're purely landlords, what our tenants do is up to them' which will be seen as a stretch when other factors are added in.

I don't think the information for who was running Encrochat has been fully released - the penguins German operation was shut down wasn't it. And you'd think the KOCG wouldn't want to have the penguin as a 'mod' for all their conversations. The company was seemingly Dutch.

A similar service was set up by 2 Scottish brothers per the vice article. though presumably a rival to encrochat.

All guesswork I suppose. And like you say, seems incredibly risky and for little gain. Why not just use multiple cheap burner phones when you need to. Have a smart phone for your civilian life, but then go through a new burner once every few weeks for everyone else
