In particular if you don't really like that individual; you're perfectly okay with them dying. Is there any police shooting or interaction you've seen which you find the behaviour of the officers to be in question? Or is it just your default to blindly support the "working class"?

Danzy wrote: » No, I'd be quite severe on cops in Ireland and America at times. Much of the senior force here were and are deeply corrupt. American police are often in power trips and they are militarized in a way no peace time police should be. This is a clear cut case, he fired a weapon and he is dead. I got banned from politics ie for pointing out that the killer of Hugh Hehir, being so **** to that man's partner caught up with him. I'm not uncritical of the police or blindly for them by any means. When you use weapons , anything can happen. Brooks paid that price.

The people arguing this don't really believe this. They probably have no issue with a cop using a taser. 2) The US has far more guns so this police stop is totally different to Ireland. The police in his situation had done a pat down for weapons. Brooks might still have had a weapon hidden on him but now within easy reach. The cop who shot him knew it was a taser that was being pointed at him. Disturbingly there are a lot of people here to view shooting someone as justifiable if they aim a taser at you.

I guess the racism itself might come into play there as we've all been in situations where there was a nod and a wink and you're told to be on your way carefully. They could have handled the arrest a bit smoother all the same, like talking more about it before going to handcuff him. For anyone who doesn't want to watch the body cam footage, he says he was at his daughters birthday and his girlfriend dropped him back to the parking lot to drive himself home. He says he fell asleep in the car because he wasn't feeling well, and claims to have only drank 1.5 margaritas. He said he could just walk to his sisters house and to forget about the charge etc, but after a breathalyser they go to arrest him...
