The Restaurant Recommendation Thread

There's been a crazy number of threads recently looking for restaurant recommendations, so I'd like to start a specific thread for it. Please post below about your favourite restaurants - why you like them, what price range they are, what type of food they serve, if they have an early bird, opening hours if you know them, where they're located. If you could include a link to the website, that would be great. The more details, the better. This is not a thread to post negative reviews - there's a thread in the main Food & Drink forum for that if you like. Basically, I want this thread to be full of recommendations, not positive and negative reviews. That being said, you can disagree with a recommendation briefly if you really feel the need to, but you must have a really valid reason such as an awful experience, rather than "I don't really like the food" or "It's too expensive".

That's a tricky one.

I imagine there will be less demand for restaurants, so increasing prices would not be a typical tactic.
However, we just don't know what's going to happen. But, yes, I suspect there will be some closures.

Hanleys was tiny, it was a scrum at the best of times. The one in Kenmare was worse, great food , pity.

Jam seemed to be doing very good business.

Good spot there beside VMware. Surprised they're not re-opening.

With a smaller footfall, none of the venues were possibly viable, esp Jam paying rent on all premises.

A shout out for Crust. They did a lot of Feed Our Heroes and it's greatly appreciated. Great food.

Ichigo Ichie is taking bookings from July.
Social distancing won't affect them as much as many other restaurants as they tend to have the restaurant very sparsely populated at any given time.

In other news, I hear 12 Tables are renaming themselves 3 Tables;)

Went to Rochestown Park Hotel on Sunday for their drive-thru carvery - very impressed with it, in and out in 5 mins and the carvery is top notch.

Anybody know anything about the Barn reopening? They don't have a social media presence so not sure what their plans are. I'd say it won't be too bad having the space between tables, as it's a fairly big restaurant, but they'll have to reduce capacity somewhat, I guess.

I passed there this morning and it looks like there are works going on there - how extensive, I don't know.

Yeah, they did the place up over a few years and still seem to have things to complete, so maybe that's what's going on. My parents love the place, so would be nice for them to be able to go for a meal there again.

There have been works going on for about 3 years, I live close by. The place is lit up like a Christmas tree every night, so much so that I don't need to put on the bathroom light when going for a pee at 3am

We haven't eaten food from outside since lock down began, were in Cork y'day and gave in to temptation and got takeaway from Koto - Beef Pho/PadThai. The Pho wasn't like an authentic Pho, but tasty all the same

Got sun of a bun yesterday, was lovely! The chips were only average but the burger was savage. First time getting it.

Out first takeaway last night (since cv).
Iyer's.
Popped in around 1.30,paid and picked up 15 minutes later. Heated up lovely for dinner.

Really generous portions. We got a meal for 2 for €25 but only ate half of it. Delicious, as always.

There's surely actual salad places open ? Why goto a grilled chicken specialist and get a salad.

Had the teriyaki duck from Koto the other day it is definitely my favorite Asian restaurant by far, can't wait to sample more of their menu.

So we had 3 take-aways so far during lockdown... or more like 3 cook-at-home efforts.
Glass Curtain, Greenes and Paradiso.

The quality in all 3 was absolutely excellent, and when lockdown finishes, I would be delighted if these places continued some shape of this service. Really well thought out packaging and preparation of the component parts. Even down to using compostable boxes and instructions on the waste. Excellent videos uploaded with really clear instructions and showing how everything is supposed to look as you put it together. Restaurant playlists to go with it. And I think pretty good value. Paradiso was 35 euro for main and dessert for 2 people. Glass curtain and greenes were 40 each. I'd happily repeat that for having friends or family over sometime in the future.

Fish Wife on grand parade gone, what a shame the food was excellent since they done it up and changed the menu.

Tried the new Sri Lankan Curry pot place on Popes quay for delivery last night. https://www.just-eat.ie/restaurants-curry-pot-city-centre Very good quality and decent portion sizes. The starters of tuna pattys and fried chicken pieces were particularly good. I ordered the kottu but it wasnt available so got the deviled beef instead which was basically like a stir fry but tasty all the same. They threw in two really good homemade chocolate brownies for the trouble which was a nice touch. Will definitely order again, hopefully they will have to kottu back on the menu next time.

They have there product on the shelves of Aldi permanently and from what I see its nearly always gone so probably going concentrating on that. They already charge high money for food there, so overheads must be crazy and non viable under social distancing.
