Police Shooting USA. Rayshard Brooks.

Cops called because a guy was asleep in his car in the queue for a drive through.
Failed field sobriety test.
Tussled with cops.
Shot and killed.
Looks on the outset like another use of excessive Force by police, but there is so much more wrong with it.

One cop has been fired and the other is Put on leave.

Firing somebody that immediately and without due process is probably in a bid to quell the protests - (but it hasn’t) But it can’t be right, surely these matters need investigation, statements and the a just decision, which may well be dismissal / charges filed etc.

There is a big risk of the authorities in the USA actually losing their own police force if they don’t maintain the law and order and due process that everyone deserves. Has the cop in this instance actually violated the procedures That are given to him for arresting people? If a cop needs to be fired then fine, fire hundreds of them but only after due process.

RIP the victim, On his daughters birthday apparently.

Let's be honest, if this was a white guy that was killed for acting the pup with American cops, it wouldn't even make the news.

Can't believe people are actually condemning the actions of the police again. He resisted arrest, stole a weapon (non-lethal or not, your not meant to interfere with police equipment) and made a run for it. They weren't heavy-handed until they absolutely needed to be.

This is poles apart to the George Floyd incident, and had it happened prior to the Floyd murder, no-one would have batted an eyelid. That's the problem with today's media, always wanting to make a scandal.

If he turned to aim then he would be running backwards and would not have been shot in the back.

The Wendy's shop that this happened outside has been burnt to the ground. A police chief has also quit.

If this is the future of law and order in America they are fooked .

The taser caused him to have a heart attack. The cop who tasered him was charged with murder. If you have evidence it wasn’t just that, I’d suggest you notify Staffordshire police as Benjamin Monk is currently on remand for murder.

Whole system will change now. Cops won’t want to or be able to do their job effectively anymore, because any time a person is injured or killed, people will point the finger at the cops all the time.

Totally agree. I read the headlines and immediately thought "oh boy, not again", but once I saw the bodycam footage it's clear this was a completely different scenario.

This is a tragic loss of life and it shouldn't have ended like this. But you have to look at the (very sudden!) escalation of events:

- 1) Resist arrest
- 2) Take a loaded taser from one of the officers
- 3) Actually firing the taser at the officer (not sure if he hit him, but still, the intent was clear) while trying to flee.

If he gave up at stages 1 or 2, the guy would very likely still be alive today...

As someone who has been tased, I don't think people appreciate what they can do to yo, especially the ones the police have. Not saying if it was justified or not but while it's not a lethal weapon, it completely incapacitates you

What was he suspected off, being asleep with intent to snore?

He was non violent up until the police decided to cuff him without prior warning as is due course in a non confrontational scenario such as this.

Do you expect the victim to trust them not to kill him despite all that has been going on the last few weeks?

Like I said these people don't live in the real world. All they see is skin colour and want to make everything about race.

I must have missed the part where the cops have consistently shown themselves to be exemplary in carrying out their duties.

As much as race is a part of this if one likes it or not, you simply don’t know what happened there and the person who called the cops could just as easily been black or could have been following procedures, or both.

Even people who don’t live in the real world can see that there are two cops, ain’t nobody paralysing two cops with one taser while running away drunk.

I'm pretty sure the Wendy's staff would've doing the same if it was a white person, you're also ignoring the fact that there is a good chance that the staff in that Wendy's who called the cops are black themselves.

But at the end of the day you have no proof for your claim...all you're doing is making assumptions. But what we do have is video proof of the suspect being drunk in his car, then resisting arrest, stealing the officers weapon and then pointing it at them

Agreed, we dont know all the facts yet there are people on this thread calling the victim a violent drunk with no proof other than what happened last night. They have made their minds up that Blackman bad / cop good!
