Listen to the recent tapes of Jon Benet Ramsey's brother. .He is well dodgy, I need to read more but I do think authorities there believe it was the son who killed her.

It's also strange that from the beginning the McCanns have only talked about someone having taken Madeleine. From the very start. They never even considered Madeleine might have went looking for them. Especially since they told them that morning that she was crying the night before. Why did they never consider this?

This leads me to believe that they gave her sleeping tablets or something. That's the easiest explanation for them knowing she couldn't have walked out herself, the twins being out cold and that nobody heard Madeline cry for help while supposedly being abducted.

There's no evidence of anything at all in this case only suspicious events but given all the circumstances, I think that's the easiest explanation that fits.

That's not how it works though. The police have to explore all scenarios early on and eliminate the least likely ones. There is no physical evidence in this case so all lines of enquiry have to be pursued. If you waited to get clues the investigation would not yet have started.

Pursued by who, you? Those lines of enquiry were pursed about 13 years ago and the parents were never charged so you can retire your monocle now.

If the fact that there is no evidence of anything is the qualifying standard for forming a baseless theory and making assumptions, then in my opinion Madeleine was abducted by aliens.
There is no evidence that she wasn’t, therefore we can’t rule it out as a possibility.

indications are now that the PJ had no idea who he was, didn't know of his criminal history and never really looked at him seriously, hard to know!

That's the whole point. The police have to explore all scenarios early on. Zooming in on what they think might be more likely without supporting evidence is liable to having them look in the wrong places and fail to find evidence which they might otherwise have found if they had approached an investigation objectively. Follow evidence not preconceived notions.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to keep up with this as much as I'd like lately and the gutter press makes things more difficult. What are the actual facts here? How did the German police come across this evidence that they have?

Am I right in saying that the UK police were not involved in this and had never identified this man?

This is one of the highest profile missing person cases in the world... How can a criminal/pedophile have been living there all those years and gone to prison, and nobody seems to have been aware of him?

He was looked at and dismissed from the investigation before apparently. There is no new evidence except that in 2017 he drunkenly boasted that he 'knew all about Madeline'

Read on sky news that the Germans police have been at the drugs in the evidence locker. They've written to the McCanns to say Madeline is dead, and they know because they 'have no evidence she's alive'. It's like they went to Portugal to do a course on irresponsible policing.

I highly doubt they would write to her parents telling them she had been murdered unless they had pretty solid evidence to suggest it was true.

The German police claim to have evidence which the can't yet share.

They had better have something substantial to be going off writing a letter like that, or they are going to look more than just inept and callous.

Kate and Gerry McCann could be given key information about how Madeleine died 'within days' as their Portuguese lawyer is set to meet with senior police.

German detectives say they have one piece of evidence that proves Madeleine died after she vanished from the Portuguese holiday resort of Praia da Luz in 2007.

Police have not told the McCanns why they dubbed the investigation a murder hunt rather than a missing person inquiry, but have shared the evidence with Portuguese police who said it was 'significant' and 'very important'.

There's evidentiary and judicial processes that need to be followed in cases like these. It's not a case of just 'spilling the beans'.

Not like, say, a disgraced ex-cop writing a book accusing a grieving couple of having disposed of their child like unwanted rubbish without a shred of proof - what a dick move that was.

That doesnt make any sense. If they can't prove it, how can it be in paper? the McCann's have already read all sorts of baloney in the paper about the case.

A hint? Jesus.

They have written to the parents to tell them their daughter is dead. Not maybe dead, not suspected of dying, dead.

They have proof of death. You don't tell any family such a devastating fact without proof.

Just because they cannot release the details in public, does not mean it's some sort of game they're playing with the family.

Best not to judge all police forces by Portuguese standards.
