"In 3 1/2 years, I’ve done much more for our Black population than Joe Biden has done in 43 years. Actually, he set them back big time with his Crime Bill, which he doesn’t even remember. I’ve done more for Black Americans, in fact, than any President in U.S. history, with... ....the possible exception of another Republican President, the late, great, Abraham Lincoln...and it’s not even close. The Democrats know this, and so does the Fake News, but they refuse to write or say it because they are inherently corrupt! See “pinned” above."

Why are Paper Tigers so perversely entertaining to watch collapse? This is the big man who boasted knowing more about ISIS than the generals, cowering in his bunker from a peaceful protest (before tear-gassing them). Could this be it? It has been said a lot across the 3 years - that this was finally the moment that put cracks in his presidency - yet ... maybe? Between this and CoVid we've seen a double header of flailing incompetence and empty bluster that's putting the country in legitimate danger. Even the GOP are keeping their distance, fleeing for the elevators rather than put up the limpest of responses.

These are people who will be well aware of their own vulnerability to the virus. They'll have been denied access to their friends, family and grandchildren and will know that under Donald Trump's tenure, over 100,000 Americans have died which is nothing short of a global disgrace for the world's richest country. He can't bullsh*t his way around this. It's a virus, not CNN or the Democrats. It doesn't play by either his rules or those of US politics. It needs a solution devised by scientists, doctors and epidemiologists, not the "very stable genius" he attests to be. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The GOP mainstream have tolerated him because he's popular and he'll satisfy their lobbyists. If he fails to win this year as seems likely IMO then they'll desert him en masse save for the most hardcore of loyalists. I employed the King John analogy before as well. Once he fails, I think something will have to change. In 1215, the English got Magna Carta. I think some sort of seismic shift needs to happen in the US. It won't happen under Biden but it's possible he might pave the way if he can hold it together. The coalition that amassed to vote for him included social conservatives, market liberals, the elderly, evangelicals, hawks and those most concered with the economy. Now, if he opens the economy, he'll spook the older voters. If he does not, he'll alienate the market liberals. And all the while, he has defiled his country's reputation and weakened its hold as the de facto leader of the free world.

Missouri. St Louis, Dem mayor Georgia, Atlanta, Dem mayor Ohio, Columbus, Dem mayor North Carolina, Raleigh, Dem mayor Florida, Tallahassee , Dem mayor Indiana, Indianapolis, Dem mayor Tennessee, Nashville, Dem mayor Texas, Austin, Dem mayor This is a huge PR win for Trump, the Dems are weak and would rather let the country burn that MAGA, Reagan style landslide in November for Trump , the Dem run cities will see the Republican ones have faired much better and they will want the same.
Manic Moran wrote: » I suspect that the demographics of the cities in question likely have a lot more to do with the rioting than the party affiliation of the mayor (Although there is doubtless a correlation). If the rioting is being conducted by folks taking advantage of the larger protests, the protests are caused by perceived injustice to the black community, and blacks in particular are inclined to protest the injustice done to themselves, it does not strike me as unreasonable that the riots are happening in those cities. I've seen nothing indicating that the mayors of all stripes aren't handling these things reasonably well. Indeed, the only politician who, thus far, seems to be doing a less than acceptable job is the President. Fortunately, again, he's limited in this case by the structure of the country.
