Surprised there has been no mention of the new Strokes album on this thread.

I have to say the more I listen to The New Abnormal the more that I am enjoying it. It's brilliant!! I wasn't expecting much but it's by far The Strokes best work since their first two albums.

At the door is an amazing song. Bad Decisions is a nice play on Dancing with myself. The rest is forgettable. A huge improvement on their last album but that's not saying much

I think Bad Decisions is the worst song on the album so I disagree with you there on both counts. I would't say the rest is unforgettable - it's a slow burner.

I thought the second half of the album wasn't up to much on the first few listens but I've completely changed my mind now. Ode to the Mets is a great closing song and one of the best on the album.

I'd consider Ode To The Mets as one of the best songs they've ever released. Great vocals by Julian on that one.

I don't know much about this guy - one of his songs played at random today in a playlist I was listening too - but Blake Mills is a guitarist/singer songwriter who has an album out called Mutable Set. A bit of a classic song writer vibe, but with added ambient and dissonant elements to his sound. This guy is good.

This song reminds me a bit of Talk Talk, but it doesn't feel like a rip-off

    This song is gorgeous-

I have listened to it a couple of times since I first posted my hot-take - on something resembling a decent sound system - I think I might have been off in my initial assessment. It's a grower.

Okay, I was miles off with my initial assessment of the new Perfume Genius album. It's an amazing record, with no bad song.

Just came across a great hip hop album released last month, R.A. the Rugged man - All my heroes are dead. Only his third album since the early 90's and it's been worth the wait.

I'm enjoying the new BC Camplight album having seen it on the Guardian's best of 2020 (so far) list. Not sure how to describe it, maybe a bit Brian Wilson and a bit Todd Rundgren. Songs go off on tangents and the lyrics are quite odd but it also pretty catchy.

SOHN live with the Metropole Orchest next week...

But this new Erland Cooper one is out today. It's just fantastic. The third of a trilogy about Orkney's birds, water and now plants.

New RSAG album released this morning.

A really nice eclectic mix of styles, all tied together nicely by Jeremy's signature drumming.

    Really enjoying it.

This thread is actually half blank for me and I rarely venture in anymore.

Anyway, liking the new Bleeding Heart Pigeons album right now.

Oh, maybe I'm better posting in the Limerick Music Scene thread/forum.

Just gave it a listen earlier, too early to form any significant opinion on it, but I have liked nearly everything she has done.

Brigid Dawson (of the Oh Sees) has her debut album out now. Uncut gave it album of the month so looking forward to a few listens this weekend. I enjoyed my first listen to Bleeding Heart Pigeons.

Chelsea Wolfe and Jess Gowrie have a new project called Mrs. Piss, they released a record last Friday called Self-Surgery. It is excellent, quite short but brilliant. Worth a listen if you're a fan of her.

The new Jeff Rosenstock record, NO DREAM, is great. Big step up in consistency from him.

Run the Jewels just released RTJ4 early because of the protests. It's really a landmark album.

The way I see it, you're probably freest from the ages one to four
Around the age of five you're shipped away for your body to be stored
They promise education, but really they give you tests and scores
And they predictin' prison population by who scoring the lowest
And usually the lowest scores the poorest and they look like me
And everyday on evening news they feed you fear for free
And you so numb you watch the cops choke out a man like me
And 'til my voice goes from a shriek to whisper, "I can't breathe"
And you sit there in the house on couch and watch it on TV
The most you give's a Twitter rant and call it a tragedy
But truly the travesty, you've been robbed of your empathy
Replaced it with apathy, I wish I could magically
Fast forward the future so then you can face it
And see how ****ed up it'll be
I promise I'm honest, they coming for you
The day after they comin' for me
I'm readin' Chomsky, I read Bukowski
I'm layin' low for a week
I said somethin' on behalf of my people
And I popped up in Wikileaks
Thank God that I'm covered, the devil is smothered
And you know the evil don't sleep
Dick Gregory told me a couple of secrets before he laid down in his grave
All of us serve the same masters, all of us nothin' but slaves
Never forget in the story of Jesus, the hero was killed by the state

    Fairly cutting.

Phoebe Bridgers just released Punisher a day early, album closer I Know The End will forever be the song that I associate most with lockdown and the album version is phenomenal.

Just gave the album a listen there. I had probably listened to "Stranger in the Alps" at some stage, but wouldn't be overly familiar with it.

I recently came across her singing with Matt Berninger and thought she had a great voice.

Really enjoyed Punisher on first listen, will definitely be getting repeated spins over the weekend.

Omar Rodríguez-Lopez released the first of his Cloud Hill Tapes records yesterday. It sounds more like Bosnian Rainbows than anything he did with The Mars Volta or At The Drive-In. I'm really liking this, then again I really like anything he's been involved with over the years.

The Cloud Hill Tapes Pt. 2 to be released July 3rd and Pt. 3 to be released July 24th.

Her debut was fantastic. Ordered this the other day so will wait till it arrives to have a listen. It's probably the album I was most looking forward to this year.

Punisher is every bit as good as Stranger in the Alps, if not better. Certainly has not disappointed!

I really love the last track on the album
