2020 Irish Gigs (Rumoured & Confirmed events)

What concerts/festivals would MCD have that are over 5000? Longitude, Trinity summer series, Irish Independent gigs and 3 Arena gigs. Would that be all of them?

All the RDS gigs this summer, Malahide gigs(the killers),
EP is festival republic who join with(own) MCD

Will that mean shows such as Kurt Vile and Weyes Blood still go ahead since they are in Vicar St?

And what about The National shows in Limerick and Cork? Surely they can be accommodated under these restrictions.

But the bands aren't going to go out on the road for a handful of gigs. They need to play and sell x amount of tickets in x amount of venues or they'll lose a load of money. If they can't play Spain, Italy, Germany, UK etc they won't play any of them.

The National aren't going to pay for logistics, insurance, road crews, hotels, food, travel, storage etc all the way from America for a few grand in Limerick and Cork.

Where possible, I imagine a lot of gigs are going to follow suit and basically push back 365 days... The bands who are changing from a Saturday in July to a Tuesday in November can go and **** off though....

Social distancing measures would still have to be enforced at these gigs you would imagine meaning you would have to limit capacity.

An odd example I saw today was the about the Basilica in Knock.

Father Richard Gibbons said the Basilica holds 3,700 seats but just 400 people would be able to sit in it, if social distancing was adhered to properly.

MCD have at least outlined some kind of plan, utter radio silence by Aiken(so far) is slightly worrying.

Yeah some headache for them considering all the Marquee shows cant go ahead unless they find another site to host them next year. A lot of money they are going to lose out on. I can imagine MCD/Live Nation have been planning for a few weeks and rescheduling shows behind the scenes with certain acts. Wouldnt fill you with any confidence if your going to a show by aiken , ive Mcr and Im worried that could be completley off eventhough its near sold out

Not sure how much work they had done before now on securing a venue for next year. But if they hadn't the odds of them doing it in just over a month seem slim to none. Doubt they could reschedule without one. Might have to refund and go from there.

Seemingly a lot saw this coming(like the killers have, at least according to their drummer) been in talks to arrange new dates for a month or 2 now) and I'd imagine promoters have some kind of contingency in place since this landed it italy.

Of course plans and reality are very different
.

For anyone like myself wondering whats happening with the Hella Mega tour , one of the members of fall out boy talks about it here: Seems like they want to complete the tour. He also mentions he has no idea if it can go ahead but seeing as Asia got pushed back a year theres a bit of hope

Yeah I meant Aiken with the Marquee. They'd have most issues as last year of Marquee. Other promoters can just delay by a year so it's not the worst

You'd hope Aiken will come out of this ok.
He is a small promoter compared to MCD who are owned by Livenation .
Aiken might not have much of a cash reserve and he may struggle if refunds have to be issued.
Alot of the smaller promoters worldwide will go out of business over Covid-19 there is no doubt of that .

No.
These events did not require the over-5000 public event licence.
They still won't be allowed go ahead as mass gatherings over 100 people have been banned since March, and that will almost certainly be extended on 5th May.

There is no hope of Vicar Street, Olympia, Marquee etc having gigs in May/June, and very likely much longer.

Would be great if they could extension on current site. Think already bought by developers but maybe they would wait till next summer when construction costs would be cheaper. His speculation on my part though maybe not possible

PSB already cancelled at Marquee, a few weeks ago, they cancelled their whole tour to next year.

Aikens are brutal for updating people, always the last to leave people know whats happening, be it pricing, gigs postponed, an awful track record on this from past history.

The only Marquee options are :

Cancel outright

Postpone
until September/October - which could be tricky as some bands may not be touring and logistics of playing in other countries, probably not a likely option-

Yeah still nothing from them yet but not only crowd not to issue any statement yet. That said even if they put out a holding notice until they had one. Radio silence is never reassuring even if it has only been a day.

Not sure, but i would assume they have options signed up.
That venue is way over the 5,000, those 7 gigs will all be cancelled, it may be logistically impossible to postpone them, just like it will be for the marquee

Anyone else getting sick of all the emails from Bandsintown about online streaming gigs? I'm getting maybe 8 emails a day from them about virtual gigs and I couldn't give less of a **** about them. It's not the same thing. Gonna have to unsubscribe for the duration of this lockdown.

Aiken have put out tweet saying they will have statement at 2 tomorrow about Live at the Marquee 2020 & 2021. Maybe a case of rescheduling some gigs til next year?
