As godawful as Biden is and as much of a sh*tshow the election campaigns/debates for both are going to be.... Anyone but Trump. Please for the love of all that is good and holy.... Anyone but Trump.

And more than that, Dems need to take the Senate. The last 3 years have proven more than anything that the Senate is absolutely key in this election, whether to hold Trump to account if he loses, or to tie his hands if he wins.

The US system is so badly flawed that they whittle it down to two choices. Biden is Hilary Part 2. I would probably vote Biden if I was over there but it would definitely be the case of least-worst.

Yeah Biden just represents a continuation of Clinton, Obama, Hilary. What the US rejected last time out.

However lets see what the world looks like in 6 months.

One good thing about Biden getting in is a the list of strong VP choices (who have a very good chance of becoming president) and the democratic policies in general which benefit the world far more than the GOP ones do.

What in particular is so terrible about Biden? We know all about Trump, but I cannot see how anyone could put the two as even close to being equals.

Biden will be 78 should he take office. And hes clearly not as sharp as he was.

Hes extremely gaffe prone. If its about race for example, he'll say something stupid.

He represents career politics like no other potential candidate.

Theres dodgy family stuff there which will come up.

Hes a good senator, a decent VP but one who was picked purely because the other guy was black.

Hes a weak choice. An old man, leftovers from the Clinton/Bush era who has had his day.

That said, he'll probably win Pennsylvania.

True, but only because of his association with the first black president. If he wasn't Obama's VP he wouldn't have anywhere near the same recognition among black voters.

On a side note that relates slightly, I guarantee you Kamala Harris will be his VP. It seems like the most logical choice. Experienced Senator, black woman and highly qualified lawyer. If he picked her he would shore up the liberal women and black vote entirely.

But Biden is an old white guy. And he'll get the African American democrat vote out

That will probably swing enough votes his way from Trump.

Unless something crazy happens in the swing states.

I suppose so yeah. Hopefully the electorate will realise the highest political office in the land should be taken by someone with political experience.

All depends on the economy in late October though.

The 2020 election is basically simple reduction of whether the population wants to continue a punt on what amounted to a Hurler on the Ditch
- one who promised the stars and failed to deliver on many Big Promises - or a return to normalcy & Establishment politics (with all that entails, good and bad).

Trump was a seductive proposition to the Rust Belt and other states seen to be left behind post 2008, but he talked a bigger game than he delivered. That his opponent was the most decisive cross-party figure in politics probably helped sell this myth of Draining the Swamp. Now with Corona, there's fair speculation that many will want an adult in charge as things unravel.

This is lazy.

Trump has pending cases against him. Multiple cases.

He cheated on all 3 of his wives.

He cheated on his latest wife with a porn star.

Maybe you should shelve that as a talking point.

Can you imagine Biden getting up in front of a camera and saying "I don't take responsibility?"

Or in response to a SOFTBALL question like "What do you say to Americans who are worried about the virus", saying "That's a nasty question!" If elected, would Biden's Press Secretary not hold a press conference ever? Or the one that did have conferences, eventually have them every other month?

Besides, we'll need a Democratic president to recover from the worst recession in many decades that's on the tracks, like the Democratic administrations ALWAYS do after the GOP raids the piggy bank for a few years .

I mean, get real. Trump's administration is an abject failure at EVERYTHING they've done. Foreign relations: in the toilet, begging medical devices from RUSSIA ffs. Economy: 10 million filing for unemployment in the last 2 weeks. Civil Discourse: Over and out. Social strife: skyrocketing. Health Care: Disastrous. Infrastructure: Another 3 years, no progress, so worse than ever.
Hate Crimes: spiking (and, just wait, the economic effects of the Coronavirus handling, well, I wouldn't want to be an Asian-American in the US right now.)

The only people voting for Trump are those who would vote for a dead rabbit if it was on the ballot with (R) after it's name.

I too am having trouble deciding whether I would prefer a dose of the regular post Indian takeaway morning sh!ts or a dose of cholera from a drink of the foulest water from the Ganges. I mean, they're both sh!tty choices

I get that Biden isn't exciting and he has plenty in his past that can be turned into a scandal but I feel that people are thinking far too black and white about this and forgetting about scale. I keep hearing stuff here like "Biden did X thing" as though Trump doing multiples of the same thing should just be ignored.

Yeah, and Biden is just as bad as Trump because he has done a tiny fraction of what Trump has done. Flawless logic right there.
