News on Radio Kerry this morning about removal of objections to CPOs on the realignment of the Kilderry bends just outside Milltown on the N70.

An engineer in roads design office told me it would be tendered in Q1 of this year, but it was last spring when I was talking to him.

A more recent source (Mayo co co adopted budget for 2020) just says they'll be applying to TII for permission to issue the tender in 2020. No mention of what quarter.

Same doc says Manulla bypass will go to ABP in Q1, which is some progress I suppose!

Just took a "drive" along there in Google Street View. The N16 in general has some tricky topography, but there is no need for this particular 2.5km section to be so twisty, except that probably back in the day some landowner didn't want it going through his land.

Had a look at the N59 Kilmeena realignment today- disappointingly there has been no visible progress since Christmas.

The only outstanding structure is a half built culvert on the mainline. It's possible that high rainfall and water levels recently meant they couldn't complete it. They were working on it today though in dreadful conditions.

When we as a country get back on our feet you would hope there would be a stimulus package to get going again. Is there any shovel ready projects that are nearly ready to go?

It will presumably hand over priority movements to the N61, as the N5 will cease being the N5 here, when the N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue is completed.

According to this, road building has been suspended but maintenance is continuing as it's deemed "criticial". Not clear if this includes road resurfacing work.

The resurfacing on the N20 in Mallow and on the N22 in Macroom is suspended which is a pity because the road is very rough now.

Pre-work on Dunkettle and the N40 VMS signs is all suspended.... however some nice big potholes are forming on the N40 which may need sorting out.

FWIW, I heard from a county councillor today that the N60 Heathlawn scheme is to go ahead in 2021. It hasn't been tendered yet.

Glad to see this, which has happened on a few of these realignments:

It is proposed that the bypassed section can be used as a suitable route for pedestrians and cyclists. A dedicated pedestrian and cycle facility is proposed on one side of the carriageway at each end of the scheme creating a link to the bypassed section.
