I think the same is happening here a lot of people going early in the hopes that they'll avoid the rush when in fact it's quieter in the afternoon

I refuse to queue anywhere at anytime for anything. Went to my local tesco last night at 8pm and there was a queue of about a dozen people. Straight back out and down to lidl. Queue was in the car park. Straight back out and home.
Could never be arsed waiting for anything so I did without toast this morning.
Tipped into the local Londis there and it was virtually empty so I bought 5 loafs and a few other bits. I probably won't go near any major supermarkets until the queueing restrictions are lifted.

I have left the supermarket before where the tills were very busy and I'd have been waiting at least 10 minutes to get served. Just left the trolley and fcuked off (I know it was a shìtty thing to do).
Genuinely I will not queue if it takes more than a minute or 2.
It drives my missus demented but that's what I do.
I will leave a bar if it's too busy and I'd have to wait to be served. I never drink pints at a match because there'll be a queue. When we went to Eurodisney I went on very little because I wouldn't stand for 15 or 20 minutes to go on anything....(actually started raining on the 2nd day and that was brilliant because everyone went inside and there were next to no people queueing for the rides).
Lads in work laugh at me if we go to the shop and there's a crowd waiting at the deli...back out...I'm gone.
I just hate standing, waiting for anything...drives me demented.

There is none in any of the 6 nearest supermarkets to me. Is it suppliers closed, panic buying or just a massive uptake in baking.

The two latter. There was a segment on the news here about how the mills had doubled production but were still struggling to keep up with demand, just about starting to show back up on shelves now. It's very long shelf life and can be used to make an absolute staple so suppose people just started hoarding it.

Panic buying, particularly for making bread, and also it seems like absolutely everyone is baking stuff at the moment be it out of boredom or to avoid shopping

I've done a rake of baking with the kids over the past 10 days. I've a few kilos of flour in the press so ok but I'll definitely have to top up now shortly. Aside from the fact that you can stuff your face, it's a very handy way to keep the kids busy for 1-2 hours.

I'd imagine there are a hell of a lot of parents doing similarly.

I'm currently savouring fresh fruit scones the missus made with our eldest. Delvicious topped with lemon curd butter that a friend in Wales brought over a while ago. Great stuff.

This is happening here too! It is basically the only thing that can not be found on the shelves. I wanted to bake a cake for my gf's birthday and ended up having to make do with a cheesecake. A Baileys cheesecake. And I drank the rest of the Baileys.

We really need to see the day by day positive cases against the number of tests analysed in order to understand. 400 could be 20% Or 10% or 5%

They could have 25 positive cases tomorrow but only analysed 100 swabs because they ran out of reagent.

Sorry all, my post should have been a bit clearer. I understand the percentage has remained fairly constant. While I knew it was coming, it was still a bit chilling to see over 400.

A friend of mines mother is in a nursing home. So far zero cases in this one. But he reckons if one staff member contracts covid19 asymptomatically it could wipe out 50% of the residents in no time as most are over 90.

The amount of Twitter experts who were able to solve the covid19 problem in their pub with their mates in early March is also astonishing. Its a pity none of them work in the DoH.

We were predicted to have 15,000 cases by April 1st not too long ago. We have 3,500. We are doing a good job.

The backlog of tests has been sent to Germany to process and clear the backlog

Expect a jump the next few days in cases

In case anyone's been following it, Astartes part 5 was released earlier. If you're not and were ever into 40K, I highly recommend. Top notch sound and computer animation, probably the best solo project around.
