Carpet Beetles

Anyone know much about these?

I've posted in a different section about marks/bites/spots myself and the kids have been getting the past two weeks, on and off.

I thought we had either bedbugs or fleas. I haven't looked properly for either yet as I'm waiting for sprays to arrive before I go looking for them, otherwise I won't be able to sleep in the bed or room if I see them and can't do anything about them !!

So yesterday afternoon and the previous evening I found 2 carpet beetles. So I'm more inclined now to think thats what we have.

I've looked online for more in depth info but I cant find anyway of what I'm looking for. I would like to know is it at all their life stages that humans react to them, or is it only certain stages? And how long after contact does the skin react?

funny timing, we just found damage to a rug caused by carpet moths this evening. there had been a basket sitting on it and they have chewed the rug under the basket.

I have rentokils Insectrol spray on the way . I initially thought it was fleas or bedbugs, but I think this spray will do carpet beetles aswell.

You didn't have any marks or reactions on your body ?

no, this was on a rug in the sitting room. we assume they're moth larvae, not beetles.

Just an update : confirmed sightings of carpet beetles and larvae/pupae. Sigh of relief!

Hi we’ve been finding carpet beetles in our home for the last few weeks . On the walls and floors. I’m so freaked out by them . Have no idea how to get rid of them . Any help or ideas are appreciated

Well after I posted my last update, it turns out that its not just carpet beetles that's invaded us.
I actually don't think the carpet beetles were bothering us at all, the hives/bites were from something else.

I kind of believe that carpet beetles can be harmless , unless if its a huge infestation.
I found one outdoors yesterday on the backdoor. I got rid of it asap before it made its way in.

I've no advice really other than the spray I got ( insectrol by rentokil) works on carpet beetles too. I'm petrified of spiders, and creepy crawlies in general. But somehow I'm not too bothered by carpet beetles.

But once you find them in the adult form they usually want to get outdoors.
