sister got no Mother's Day card

My sister's kids are 19 and 18. They take my sister for granted a lot of the time. She works full-time and takes in students to pay for everything for them, college etc. This year, as last year, they got her no card or flowers for Mother's Day. They both have part-time jobs. She came home to find the house in a mess, and they were out of the house, When she said she was upset about no acknowledgment of Mother's Day, they just shrugged and one of stated what the hell was she. on about it's only a 'blxxdy day.' I'm not that much into cards, mine just make me cards for Mother's Day, but she is upset. Any thoughts on this would be helpful. I wasn't sure what to say, as I didn't want to make her feel worse.

Aw, poor thing. Tell her the teenage years really bring out the selfish, thoughtless arsehole in many (topical right now!) and this isn't unusual.

They'll recognise what she's doing for them in time. Until then, she can tell them **** off if they expect money for non essentials.

A card isn't much to acknowledge all she does for them. OP, give one of them a quick call and put them in the picture, they can spend the next week making it up to her.

Some people are so self absorbed they think of no one else, age is no barrier to selfishness.

Nah it's no fun to be the odd one out when so many mark the day by making their mothers feel appreciated.

Doesn't matter a scrap what anybody else thinks in this case, this woman has confided in her sister how let down she feels.

Personally I'm not too bothered about Mother's Day, however, if she's bothered she needs to let them know. They turn out how you rear them.

I'd be more bothered that they left a mess behind any day, doesn't matter that it's mother's Day.

There is a shop in Jervis Shopping Centre that sold 10 cards (with envelopes) for EUR 1.

Yes, you read that right. 10 cards for EUR 1.

I have enough generic cards for family birthdays and other events to last the next five years. Best EUR 5 I ever spent.
