I went to see that when it was for sale during the boom! If I remember rightly it was for €400k-odd :eek:

It's like a long corridor. You'd have to be very disciplined indeed to live there.

A bit of googling shows it was at one stage asking €425K in March 08!!!

Seems to have sold in Nov 10 for €155K

Considering it sold for 136k, and is now going on Airbnb for c.100 a night, that's not a bad return. (93 a night plus 60 euro "cleaning fee" whether you stay 1 night or 5)

Obviously wouldn't be booked every night, but a nice earner if that was the cash buyers line of thinking. I know the asking has gone up to 199k now though.

Perhaps current owner getting out due to Airbnb restrictions?

Well if you climb onto the top bunk, you can open the half of the front window that goes to almost 90 degrees. Then, go out the front door and in through the window. Voila!

Alternatively, you could leave the third shelf of the storage unit clear and snake in through there.

I really don't think they have got the full potential out of this place. They could easily get a fellow in a sleeping bag under the bunk bed too. There's another grand a month right there! :mad:

There are strict rules for how many people you can sardine pack into a place, but I think they only apply to prisons. Private rental market? Good luck. :mad:

Put the kitchen in hallway where the stairs are.
Take what was the kitchen, turn it into a 'dining room', with nothing there.
Put an en-suite in with the smallest bedroom.
Make it the only toilet in the place.

Reality is probably sadder, some poor oul fella or woman had the house changed around them over the years to fit.

Don't get this one tbh - the AMV is 50k. Sure, it might go for much more, but what would anyone expect for 50k? There are houses literally falling down that are listed for much more than that. With a bit of work and a reasonable investment that could be quite nice, and would do very well as a holiday let, a 'quaint Irish cottage' near Shannon airport.

Looks like someone renovated/rebuilt about a decade ago but used cheap exterior paint.

Apparently 42 mostly Brazilian students had been living in a warehouse in Glasnevin

They were all turfed out at the start of the month, "in response to Covid-19"??. This bit is interesting -

Until recently, the building was home to 42 students, mostly from Brazil, says Layanne Naves, who lived there from November 2019 until the beginning of this month.

They were split between 20 bedrooms over two floors, and shared a large kitchen with two stoves and two sinks.

A bed there cost between €95 weekly for a bunk-bed in a four-person room, to €250 weekly for a “couple room with bathroom”, according to an advert on Facebook in late January.

Taking the conservative estimate of 42 people x €95 per week, that works out at around €16000 a month income for this 'landlord'.

On the more worrying front its a hive for breeding the virus all those people in close proximity to eachother.
