Best goal you ever saw?

There's been so many exceptional goals its hard to choose but I'd probably give the nod to Joe Cannings goal in the Leinster final in 2015. Just an incredible piece of brilliance from him.

Honourable mention to Paul Flynn in the Munster final of 2004, there's very few could do that and intend it.

In football I think if Cork had won the 1999 All Ireland the goal Joe Kavanagh scored would be up there with any.

That was an awesome goal by Jimmy Barry Murphy, a living legend.

John Fenton the man who set it up had an even better one against Limerick in 1987.

Gooch scored a goal against my home club in a county league game I think. Would have been replayed multiple times if he did it in a county game. The first dummy, then the solo dummy before just slotting it home. Perfect.

Yes I also think that JBM's goal was one of the greatest ever seen, the man was a total artist and in my estimation the best GAA player to ever grace a GAA field [I'm not from Cork]

For Hurling I'd go with Damien Hayes v Tipperary in the 2005 quarter final as my favourite goal

Football I'd say Michael Meehan's against Cork in 2013

If I was to take off my Galway bias I'd say Richie Hogan goal against Tipperary in the 2011 final

And Owen Mulligans goal against Dublin in 2005

My Dad brought me to that match. I was 10 years old. Best hurling goal i've ever seen. How Fenton hit it so perfectly from a ground stroke from 40 yards out was magical. Incredible goal. Can always say i was there to witness it.

I've seen a few old matches on tv of Cork matches with JBM involved and have to say i have been underwhelmed by him in all those matches. He seemed to have a poor striking technique of the sliotar and compared to todays sharp shooters he looked nowhere near that quality. That goal you mention had an element of luck to it as he pulled wildly with the defender and it could just as easily have landed in the Royal Canal.

Funny enough I scored it myself.
I collected a pass on the halfway line, broke 7 tackles and let fly from about 55 yards into the top left hand corner, against the wind, with my weaker foot. The goalie never saw it.

For the football, being a Dub, it's been a ridiculous decade of dominance and so many important goals to mull over. Kev Macs left footed, top corner goal v Kerry (i dont think he meant it but who knows), Kev Macs right footed goal v Kerry in 2011. Come to think of it all goals v Kerry are very satisfying.

One goal that does stick in the memory though is Peter Canavan's v Kerry (what is it with goals against Kerry) in one of the All Ireland finals between the two. Getting a nice pass from Mulligan, who he used to teach in school, and placing the ball inch perfectly just inside the post with his supposed weaker left foot giving the hapless Kerry keeper no chance. The composure from Canavan to not blast the ball like many others would under the highest of pressure and have time to process that a softer, precision kicked, daisy cutter was the best option was the mark of a true giant of the game. What Canavan lacked in build he more than made up with brains, skill, wit and courage.

Hurling - John Fenton's off the ground rocket against Limerick in '87.

Football - As a Meathman there is a good bit of bias but Kevin Foley's goal to tilt the match in Meath's favour after a 4 game epic against Dublin in '91.
Great team goal when we looked dead and buried and also for a back he took the goal really well, no trying to burst the net just slipped it under John O Leary.

Ah when Meath could go head to head with Dublin was a time like no other, I think even the Dubs miss us!

I was in the Canal End when that goal went in under the Hill, absolute bedlam broke out!
I was 18 at the time, travelled up on the bus with a gang of us. Memories are made on days like that:)

Selling one dummy is just about forgiveable. Selling another one straight after was just bird brain defending. It was two Lucan Sarsfields lads that were left looking a bit silly if i remember correctly. Especislly Paul Casey who wasn't a good player imo. The brutal, naieve defending made that goal look better than it was imo.

Yes i think that goal was lucky. Some say Flynn put top spin on the shot to try and get it to move mid air. I dont know i think it was very shoddy defending and usually 9/10 would have been stopped quite easily from that distance.

Good goal I was there in the Hyde that day.

However a bit obscure but Michael Daly's goal for Galway minors vs Roscommon in Connacht minor league back in 2013 was easily best goal I have ever seen in the Hyde.
