Hi, anyone here receive a 2019 Statement of Liability yet after filling out an Income Tax Return aka a Form 12?

I thought it would be available by now.

What's driving the refund? Is it something unusual or is it just standard overpayment?

i have finally received my SOL on Thursday. Amount due is half of what it was last year and nothing has changed. (non resident aggregation relief). It was either incorrect last year or this year.

Yea, my latest update is phone lines are now gone, which is fine. Two conflicting my enquiries responses.

1st message - your SOL is fine and it's on the way

(two weeks later)...I chased it again..

2nd message your SOL is not fine, we can't process your Foreign Earnings Deduction credit due to an ongoing tech issue - we still have no ETA!

So frustrating!

I requested SOL online on behalf of someone last Thursday for 16 17 and 18. I’ll look first thing on Tuesday and see if they’ve been done and I’ll come back here and tell you

I presume everything has stopped at this stage. I rang mid march and was told a couple of days, I called over a week later and told last person didnt request it proper that it was sent and would be a few days. That was the Thursday before everything shut down.

So I presume it's not automated and iv to wait till they are back open, which is unfortunate as I was advised by advisor im owed over €1500

You owe them €75 for last year. They may ( and I say may as I find small u/p are often not collected) reduce your tax credits in a future year to collect that. So the system ultimately balances. It’s the easiest way to do it.

That's the normal outcome when an underpayment is a low amount. (Though perhaps after COvid, they may have to rethink that).

However, I would expect that any future overpayment would be offset against the underpayment - so if you were due a refund of €200 for 2020, for example, you'd only receive €125. That would make sense.

Yep, I finally got an enquiries response saying they fixed the issue and that i'd have my amended one soon..that was on 25th, nothing today.

I think the batch jobs run over night, so I just login in the morning, check my documents and then sign out.

If it appears in My Documents, I think it means refund has been issued and should have it within ~48 hours!

last week they've reached out via my enquires to let me know that my SOL is ready to be issued. as the amount to be refunded is high it will go for checking so a delay will occur. However it will issue as soon as possible. I have no idea what that means tbh. Does anybody know anything about that process ?

long story. i need to claim refund for a certain relief at the end of every year and last year they have issued p21 on may 31st after calling them dozen times. If i hadnt come across with someone who was actually willing to help it probably would have been delayed more. The year before wasnt any better.

I would guess that the 200 staff being redeployed may have been people who were hired for Brexit-related issues?

When the Border 'moved' to the Irish Sea, less trade facilitation work would be required, wouldn't it?

Also, if debt-collection work is halted for the moment, because of Covid, then perhaps staff who work in that area are available to be redeployed - to do quite essential work with DEASP.

That's just my theory.

got mine today after applying on the 8th of jan , nice little lump sum , good luck to all those still waiting , i rang on monday and was told mine was one of the ones for further checking but was being approved within the next few days

Yea, i wouldn't expect a refund without the SOL sitting in your documents first.

Seems once the document appears, the funds get wired and takes about 24 hours or so.

I'm still tied up with technicality of waiting for a fixed/amended SOL.

I rang again last week as figured it may have slipped through cracks but wasn't given an ETA...just that someone had been on the case since Jan 23 and was still working away at fixing it.

Turns out chap on the phone outright lied to me on Friday, called today to see why sol and refund hadn't arrived as advised, girl on the phone said she'd no idea why I was told that and I definitely wasn't due my refund anytime soon, joke.

My comment was about the delay. I am really frustrated about this situation. 2 months ago I was told that the issue has been resolved and that the SOL will issue shortly. Heard about 5 different stories and Still no SOL.
