The UK have obviously decided to take the hit up front, let it spread and run riot for a short while and then everything goes back to normal. We are going for the long drawn out saga with early closures and hoping to battle it out. All travel between both islands needs to stop immediately or our strategy is knackered.

Well it's a bit more nuanced than that - schools open - children at school, schools closed - children at home with granny who gets the virus off the child (who is grand) and then falls ill. Ditto sporting events - 50,000 outdoors less of a risk than 50,000 watching the game indoors with "fecund" pub air quality promoting germ spread.

So the PL will get suspended tomorrow, meaning the earliest title win record is gone ( for date anyway, surely the earliest by number of games is on) , but what will happen is the unbeatable record of latest win will happen. No one will ever win the title in July again.

Both leagues would love to add Liverpool to their top tiers.

Can see football cancelled soon though, just like Serie A.

Probably - especially in front of crowds... but then again, this is the country that allowed Cheltenham to go full steam ahead, with a quarter of a million people crammed together for 4 days!

Most likely thing I think is that they fulfill this weekends games, and then use the international break to figure out their next move. Surely at that stage they'll just suspend the league for 2 months or so.

Just take a break for a month or so. Leave the players managers and whoever's affected recover and play the remaining games out in may/June/July behind closed doors .
Euros look like they could put back to 2021 anyway...so space is there to sort the CL and PL in the summer.

I'd actively infect every player in the league, isolate them for two weeks, give those who fall ill the chance to recover and then carry on. Any players who fall into high risk groups - type 1 diabetics, transplantees should obviously be excused.
