I spend about 70 a week.
My wife doesn't drink.
I feel it's too much
I get terribly guilty over it
I don't have a bad job but I think it's excessive

Before I seriously cut down, I could spend €250 on a night out, on a pay weekend. More more frequently, €20 on pre-drinks, then at least another €80 on drinks. Yes, I felt guilty. It reduced me from spending money on better things in my life. But that was my 20's. Wasted so much money frivously.

Now, I might spend €10 or so on some craft beers at home. Enjoy the flavour, drink them slow and I'm good. I don't like spending that much on booze any more. Any money I get, I try invest in more meaningful things.

OP, I don't think you're getting a representative sample here. Those who drink quite a lot are not honest enough to post.

If you can afford what you're spending and no-one is going without because of it then don't feel guilty.

I wouldn't be one to drink cans at home. Not able to anymore. I used to back in college and the few years after but now I prefer to be in a pub and social. There is just something about being out and about.

Thursday pints are great too, Sunday are even better! I work Monday - Friday but love a Sunday pint. Out early, watch the sport, home early-ish with a pizza, couple pints of water and in bed asleep by 10 or 11

It's relaxing to have a couple before bed to chill out.

I don't tend to spend too much on booze I have a good stock of vodka, gin, whiskey so just mostly mixers limes etc.

Id say i maybe spend on average 20/30 a month on some beers out with dinner mostly

I drink a lot and i'm honest about it. I go out every Friday, every Saturday and most Sundays. But as you said above, it's my money and no one is missing out on anything because I spend it in the local so i've no guilt.

Not missing out on anything except a life outside the pub.

I would say I spend about 10/12 euro a week on alcohol i.e one bottle of wine which i might not even finish. I would spend more if it was a night out but that would be a couple of time a year.

I have a life outside the pub. Go on 2/3 holidays a year. Go to concerts, plays, movies, all sorts of events "outside the pub". Although if you'd been able to read properly, you'd see that I was replying to someone who stated that "If you can afford what you're spending and no-one is going without because of it then don't feel guilty."

Usually buy a 6 pack of a quality beer on Friday for around €3 or €4. Have around 15 bottles of whiskey on the shelf, most of them would be worth over €100, probably buy a bottle every 1 or 2 months. That keeps me going while at home. Don't head out that often now due to young kids.

I do tend to drink a lot, but mostly of my own brews. I have a wine setup and a stovetop still for the hard stuff. And once in a Blue Moon I get a care package from home from the family's winery. So roughly I spend about 50 euro a week on the fancy stuff here and ingredients.
