I know how the system works. My question would be why would you import a new LHD car in the mid 1970's to Kerry, when you could have bought a new RHD one instead. If the car is one owner, then it follows he's the person who imported it to Kerry.
It just seems a bit odd. Maybe he lived in the country of origin, bought the car there, and moved over here with it.
Pity that the original number plates didn't survive as well...

Did that car use to live in the Dun Laoghaire / Sandycove area? If so it is in top condition. Got talking to the owner at one point, relatively young fella, lovely chap. He was jump starting another car from his R4 at the time

I'm not surprised he had to take it to the UK to get the kind of money for it that he (rightfully) thinks it is worth...

Edit: NCT until well into 2021. That doesn't surprise me. It's an insult to a good car if it doesn't have an NCT.

You’ll always get folks banging on about how it’s such a shame to lose an original Irish car to the UK etc, but the majority of punters here would seemingly rather buy a wreck of a car that has never been tested instead of the premium a good car deserves. Good on the seller.

That looks a cracking example too. A nice colour to suit the car, and the chrome bumpers set it off lovely.

If you are reasonably skilled then they are surprisingly easy. Literally everything unbolts to get access. The 3.5 v8 is a venerable old thing that's easy to work on if you have experience, but cheap enough to get done professionally. Parts from speciallists bearmach are quite cheap and nearly always available.

They are prone to rust in out of the way places, but if you want to perfect your mig welding skills, theres no better way!

That rangey has no NCT since june, and I'll bet it's due to rust. Probably not fatal yet.

They will crucify you on fuel though: Expect 15mpg average if you take it easy.

No NCT since 2017, dirty interior and starting to sag at the back. That's for the scrap heap I'm afraid. I've stripped a couple of them, there's a point when they're gone that it makes far more sense to get one from the UK for good money.

Anything under €10K has warning bells attached. Good, trouble free ones are £15K and up.
