I heard a semi-sane SF policy for the first time ever today.

They propose to remove the Universal Social Charge for people on incomes under 30k.

That sounds good. Everyone likes tax cuts. They're really talking about abolished the USC and imposing a new tax on everyone earning more than 30k. Maybe they could call it the Some people Social Charge.

No surprise there really but on an economic level it makes no sense for a socialist party to do something like this. Tax cuts are effectively a taxpayer funded payrise. Ireland is approaching full employment and there should be pressure on businesses to pay more but SF is going to ride to the rescue of shareholder dividends by picking up the tab instead?

Whatever about their links to terrorists and criminals I don't believe SF have any kind of competence to manage the public finances here.

Someone defending something they believe in I can understand. However my original question is why someone would spend numerous hours a day, every day, for several weeks debating, discussing arguing against and engaging in non stop truculent behavior, that is entirely focussed on something they detest, is a real brain scratcher for me.

If I ever hated something that much I would make one or two comments to state my beliefs and why, and then I'd move on and leave it behind. Spending my whole day focussing on something I dislike would drive me to depression.

Either the person engaging in the behaviour enjoys being argumentative, would rather focus on negative aspects of life than the positive, or is receiving some form of incentive/reward for it.

theres posters of Charlie Flanagan around laois getting defaced because of the RIC debacle and locals can tell you it isnt shinners doing it. the locals are disgusted by their td
