Came from a Porsche specialist last year who had it for 5 years. Per the ad it was stripped down to nothing and had had a full respray - under the bonnet, under the carpets, everywhere basically, no shortcuts - the engine was rebuilt when it was out, new timing belt etc too. Suspension all refreshed. New exhaust the full length of the car. Upgraded seats.

Not sure what more anyone could want for €3k to be honest. It’s a cracking car and despite what people who’ve never driven one will tell you, they are in fact great yokes to drive.

It’s not perfect, the dash could be recovered if fussy and the mileage counter and fuel gauge don’t work. Minor little things as with most classics

Would you not put it through the NCT? With test I'd have thought it will easily fetch €3k. Without test, a big risk for the buyer.

Nah, I’ve sold loads of classics without one in the past, so know that that’s not the issue. If anyone thinks it’s too big a risk I’d just direct them to the other transaxled Porsches online for many thousands more than 3k

But that does not deny the fact that there are folk who will not be interested in
even considering a car that has no test. And i have to admit at times I would be one of them.

So no doubt there are some that pass by such an ad, and after all, you only
need one buyer:)

Do you have a full list of photos to back up the resto work as well.

And no, I have no resto photos. The car has obviously been restored though

I should mention too that the previous owner who carried out the work is a well regarded person in 924/44 circles by owners on here...for what that’s worth!

No disrespect to you either, but maybe you are doing yourself an injustice by not getting it tested:)

And from a prospective buyers point of view, you have no test, and no proof of any resto done, except maybe a new coat of schultz on the underbody. And we all know what we have found behind that in our classic purchase owner ship.

I have no doubt the car is what you say it is.

But in legaleze, its not what you know, its what you can prove to a new buyer.

Its great value to be fair for what you say it is, pics look great.

I have to go now, before I add another car to the herd:D

If someone said that to me on viewing it I know what I’d tell them. You’d want to be a bit of an idiot if you couldn’t see past a coat of Shultz too. Like I said, new exhaust, new suspension, excellent paintwork, perfect engine.

Not saying you won't sell it for 3k, you probably will. Fact is though that to some people, it is worth more with a test than without. And some people just won't buy without an NCT.

There might be some of those people reading this thread right now, that would pay 3.5k for the Porsche with a new test. But you are not going to sell to them, for what, the sake of €55 for putting it through? I can understand some people can't be bothered, but you of all people tend to spend time preparing the car, making a good ad, taking decent pictures, etc.

I know it's your dad's car though, not trying to make out it is your car and that you can't be bothered

One thing that puts me off with NCT a 924 is the fact that the car will most likely come back with bent side channel bottom seam. Happened to my one. The guys at NCT just have their standard way of lifting the car and there is no point even discussing it. Sure, this is not an excuse driving one without the NCT, but you need to decide for yourself.

And anyway, when you take it in to the NCT centre, you have to sign a form absolving the Centre of any responsibility for any damage which may occur during the test.

Not having a dig at you here unkel, I always appreciate your contributions on here, just addressing some of what you’ve said here.

Like I said earlier, if someone was put off the car because it had no test, it would not/does not bother me in the slightest. Their loss, not mine. I will sell it to someone else

So, I really don’t care if it’s worth 3500 to someone with an NCT. Let them buy another one with an NCT for that money is what I would say to that. Only they couldn’t.

Bottom line of what I’m trying to say, if someone wants it they’ll buy it. If they don’t, I couldn’t care less.

Even if the car was mine I wouldn’t bring it near a test centre.

But you see, that extra 500 could be yours! Do you not care? It might just cost an hour of your time and a payment of 55 to put it through.

Bottom line for me would be, if I wanted that make and model, having an NCT would be a bonus, but lack of an NCT would not stop me. If the price was right, I would take look, a drive, ask some question's, and unless my examination showed up some deadly dangerous fault's, I'd buy it. Why would I not?
I'd say that for any aficionado, it would be the same. The price ( unless it was really out of line, would not be a deal breaker) just like the NCT.

You can be forgiven the confusion when it come to cars and regulation in Ireland.
There are people out there who firmly believe that anyone who claims to know everything about the vehicle rules and regulations in Ireland, are the ones who are really confused....:p:p:p:p

In fairness, you can't really blame people for not adhering to the law, if the law is not enforced. It's human nature to cut corners. To see what you can get away with.

I've never seen so many untaxed / untested cars as in Ireland. In this country, even if you have to appear in court, you get away scot free unless the other party can prove they have physically served you with a notice

In other jurisdictions, all cars are tested and taxed. Or else you are almost guaranteed to be in trouble.
