I emailed in the Monday after results so I was lucky in that sense that my email happened to be considered in the Committees meeting on the 5th Dec and I have it in writing now that I can carry my two passes over. So I think anyone who is emailing now will be ok.

Did you explain in detail your circumstances or just ask nicely to carry your passes?

Not really I didn’t really comment on personal circumstances at all, just that it was really unfair we would have to sit and pay for exams in March that we have already secured passes in in October when the rule has just been abolished due to its unfairness. But my main argument was that the decision to get rid of the rule was made before we sat exams in October so didn’t make sense that we would still be subject to it.

Hey guys, just a quick query. Do any of you have had misplaced the results letter from few years ago (when didnt get the magic three)? I am quite sure I passed contract before, but cant find the results letter. Have anyone ever emailed the Law Society to request copy letter of results dating few years back?

Do you have an account on the law society website? This will show you your results to date.

I'm not sure what exactly to say, I will be saying about the decision to abolish the rule happening before October sitting, I had a 2 month old baby at the time so would've been handy to know at the time! Lol

Just a quick update for those who signed the petition: I have paused this for the time being, given that the Law Society provided the update yesterday evening, roughly an hour after the petition was created!

I trust we're all happy to hold off until we see what the outcome of the process is.

Regarding exam grids, would anybody be willing to compare on Tort and Criminal. In tort, I have an exam grid from two of the leading exam prep courses and the mistakes and difference is outstanding.

It is easy enough to spot the defamation, products liability,, blatant essay questions on a topic (of which are omitted from some exam grids), but it is the negligence and other problem question (eg nuisance & rylands) is where I'm strugging to see what exactly the examiner wants. Friel's reports are also more than useless.

Anybody willing to compare, or even notice this?

Tactically, as EU Competition Law is such a massive topic that usually only appears in one question in the exam (also the case note question, will get to that point below), leaving it out is not such a terrible idea.

Instead, without the pressure of covering such a massive topic, you could cover nearly every other topic on the EU syllabus and be able to answer 6/7 from 8 in an exam.

I would however highly recommend covering the key two or three cases in EU Competition Law that regularly appear in the case note question (Microsoft, etc) - that way you can cover yourself for the case note question, and if need be, attempt the competition law question based off these key cases if stuck in the exam on the day.
