Mod edit: Given how the last thread descended into chaos, we are going to leave that closed and start afresh

Welcome to the Waterford GAA discussion thread.

This is consistently the most active thread don the GAA forum. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

- Personal abuse of anyone be they other posters, players, managers, referees, pundits etc. Any personal abuse will result in an infraction or a ban.

- Rumours about players'/managers'/anyone's personal lives. This should be self explanatory. Apart from being a dickish thing to do, it can lead to legal trouble for Boards.

- Trolling. Again, self explanatory. Trolls will be banned for a long time.

- Accusations of trolling. Report a post if you suspect it to be trolling. Do not call a troll out on thread as this will be considered back seat modding.

- Speculation into the identity of another poster. This is a site-bannable offence.

This list is not exhaustive. Either myself or another mod may add to this as we see fit. Just because a certain behaviour isn't listed, doesn't mean you can't be banned for it. The general Boards.ie rule of Don't be a Dick always applies.

If you feel a post breaks the rules, simply click this underneath the post in question to report the post and a mod will deal with it as they see fit.

So be civil to each other and happy posting.

Given that the thread regularly descending into tit for tat insults between posters, From now on, it won't be a card but a ban straight away for anything like this. The mod warning is clear in the first post but yet people still ignore it.
Also, I'd like to remind people of the ban on discussing players'/managers'/officials' private lives without any substance. You can be getting into libelous territory there. So a zero tolerance policy will be enforced as well.

Anyone still waiting on their season ticket. Should have had it by now with the AI finals on Sunday, ordered mine on 15th Dec. How bloody hard can it beðŸ™„!!

I ordered on the 6th Dec and when I emailed I was told it would be out before the first league game which is 25/01. Service from them is woeful! They sent out a load of cards with the wrong names last year!

'Pets' ?? - Jesus can we just leave off the snide remark about McGrath. He's gone two years now.
He tried to something different, it didn't work out, so let's all move on.
Philip was a great servant, however he's made his decision. To be honest, half back is one of our stronger positions and we have a few exciting young half backs who need to stand up and be given the opportunity to shine.

Think he was having a dig at those making the accusations rather than the other way around to be fair.

difficult to judge the team overall based on this game, very cold evening and an over fussy referee made for a very stop start game.

Great post carter10. Did Clare play very direct last night, a lot of debate here in Clare about the style and method of play that Brian Lohan's wants his team to play, under his management.

That looked a good Waterford team on paper carter10. Overall a good and worthwhile exercise for both teams, with both fielding strong teams. The 2020 league begins today week!!

That's great to hear that re Clare style of play. Overdoing either the direct stuff (see Kilkenny and Clare's 2nd half performances v Tipp in championship 2019) or the short passing game, that can go so horribly wrong if broken down, is not the way forward. A good mix of both methods putting unpredictably on opponent's defenders and heads is the right approach.

Good also to hear of the traditional 3 men inside too along with you mention our stick passing and off the ball movement, which was far too laboured IMO during our humiliating performances against Tipp and Limerick in the championship last year. However when I hear of lax and lazy tackling resulting in soft and easy frees for our opponents......

As for your own county Waterford, I do expect ye to be playing hurling beyond June, as third seeds in Munster, at the expense of Cork and Clare. Liam Cahill is the type of manager that will get the max out of what is a very talented bunch of players. I also think that the ditching of the "sweeper" that was IMO holding ye back from Liam McCarthy glory, will only be a positive for the Deise men. Should be a great year!
