Had a first post on Reddit yesterday (different username and not a general topic thread) and wow the difference. Sensible answers, reasoned debate and no stupid comments. What an amazing experience compared to Boards. No professional trolls either!

The post ordering by both chronology and up/down votes means it's an awkward browse.

Then you have the thread ordering by hot, new, controversial etc. So some threads get killed quickly.

Reddit skews younger, and has plenty of morons too. Some of the subreddits are good, most are okay, some are weird, creepy, gross, insular, or hateful. It's a big slice of life, astroturfed to within an inch of its life.

Pics or it didn't happen. And needless to say the relative volume of sense depends on the forum; I'm fairly sure we're not talking r/the_donald for instance... Reddit is mostly white noise in my experience
