There's been a crazy number of threads recently looking for restaurant recommendations, so I'd like to start a specific thread for it. Please post below about your favourite restaurants - why you like them, what price range they are, what type of food they serve, if they have an early bird, opening hours if you know them, where they're located. If you could include a link to the website, that would be great. The more details, the better. This is not a thread to post negative reviews - there's a thread in the main Food & Drink forum for that if you like. Basically, I want this thread to be full of recommendations, not positive and negative reviews. That being said, you can disagree with a recommendation briefly if you really feel the need to, but you must have a really valid reason such as an awful experience, rather than "I don't really like the food" or "It's too expensive".

I had a brekkie in the clay pot in Blackpool during the week.
I went for a full Irish, very tasty and a good coffee.
The place itself is nice and tidy, worth a visit.
The area is awful though.

The outbreak in 2016 aside, I wouldn't eat there again just because of the food. Went there exactly a year ago with friends back for Christmas, and was underwhelmed. The chips were decent and the staff were good, but the burgers were incredibly fatty, pouring over my hand, has to hold it sideways to let a fat lake form on the plate. It crimped the night, as everyone slowed down for an hour or more after, struggling to digest. I know burgers aren't health food, but it's basically a vehicle for concentrating fat sugar and salt into you. Wouldn't go back.

I'm carnivorous, and I always look forward to Paradiso as a massive treat. I imagine they've at least been looked at when Michelin stars are decided. Took a vegetarian American senior colleague and his wife there and they were absolutely delighted with the place - he's used to slumming it when traveling as a vegetarian, and they were blown away by the range and quality.

Anyone been to the Glass Curtain in the old Thompson's bakery site on McCurtain Street? I passed it on opening day, and it looks lovely in there, menu was interesting, although some items were priced high. Curious to hear if it's worth checking out (or if I get there I'll post something here)

Just there last night actually!

As you say, menu is interesting (if short) and a welcome break from the prevailing 'meh'-ness of many places - if the Glass Curtain plays its cards right it could be very much a destination restaurant. Food was good - I had game terrine and pork shoulder; the latter was super tender. I don't think it was exorbitantly priced, but I'm not sure Cork is ready for 'undressed' mains with sides (a very limited selection) charged separately. Service was a little spotty - we had to remind the staff of a couple of requests. Interesting cocktail list, although presentation wasn't great. Those negatives should be noted in the overall context though that the place is brand new and still finding its feet I'm sure. Bill for four x 3 courses, two bottles wine, ten (ish!) cocktails and a coffee was €330 which I don't think is overpriced. I'll be back.

Is Burnt as good as it looks? Chanced arm the other night looking for a table but they were fully booked for next few hours. While waiting to talk to someone noticed the pizzas coming out looked very authentic and something you'd see in a Napoli style pizzeria in NYC or Naples. Anyone been and are the pizzas as good as they look as they look amazing.

Thought they were only ok. Oak Fire across the road from it is better in my experience.

Myself and the girlfriend were in here a while back, and were disappointed. Service was very good but the pizza was as tasty as a cheap frozen one. Was disappointed as we’d hoped it would be far better. We were there for an early lunchtime, maybe a second visit is due but that was our first impression.

Oak fire pizza across the road does the best pizza I’ve ever had in cork.

I like the Franciscan well, but is every tourist in the city sent there by bus or what is going on. Is it ranked high on TripAdvisor? It is jammed with tourists.

gee i never noticed a load of tourists there.. a great mix of nationalities for sure as we have lots living here in cork - i often go on sun eves for the jazz quartet, pizza and beer out the back - always feels like i am on holidays

You’re right. I live beside it and it’s often difficult to get a seat. Even early in the evening! Constant bus tours.

Tried to hit elbow lane but they were full and waiting list was full

Ended up going to Electric. The last time I was here few years now it was fairly disappointing.

The story doesn't seem to have changed much.

I had lamb shank which had very little meat on it and slightly over done.

The bottle of wine I only noticed after stands on a shelf in a very warm area in the restaurant.

Will be knocked off the list for good.
