He took exception to long stayers and seems to have had abuse when he confronted some of the assholes; even said he had a gun pulled on him. Now, some of these stories don't add up when put against the charger occupancy stats. However, now that overstay fees are a thing he shouldn't have anything to worry about. He also had a beef about cars driving dangerously through his forecourt when heading to the charger, which is at the back of the garage. I could see this being an issue as the access to the charger is through a busy passage, with a lot of foot traffic. In fairness the charger is in a terrible location and should never have been put there, but ecars have been having trouble finding suitable sites. Many businesses don't want them on their site.

Have to say I've been totally put off. I would do an 84km round trip to work daily and would have no access to a charger at work as they are reserved for direct workers of the company. So my conclusions are that I couldn't get there and back without spending a fortune on a car or otherwise get a second hand EV and worry about headwinds and not being able to put on internal heat because it's -2 outside even though that's when you need a bit of heat in the car! The talk of people driving at 65 in and 80 zone was mind boggling and I guess my 130 normal speed on the motorway is bonkers. I don't quite do bangernomics but bought a 09 Diesel with 200 tax and spend prob on average 40 a week on fuel. Have it 2.5 years and will probably keep it for another 2.5 years so that's 850 a year in term of purchase price and say on average 500 a year on maintenance it's cheap as you can get for my needs. EVs need to up their game in terms of affordability and practicality in terms of range. Early days in terms of Evs I know but the fact that there's no practical option for someone like me is damning. Looking at the ID3 forum was so disappointing. Looking like the new hope looks like to have turned out to be an overpriced ****ty looking- inside and out underwhelming offering.

unkel wrote: » 7.2 vs 11kW not much in it imho But if you got 22kW and it turns out there will be free and available 22kW AC chargers everywhere, then it starts making sense. Do a weekly big Tesco shop (~1 hour) and your 44kWh car is nearly half full. I wouldn't bother plugging in an 11kW for an hour...

You could go somewher like Mahon Pt shopping centre and be there for 1-3hrs. At 11kW you will get a decent charge in that timeframe. Not so much at 6.6kW.
