I must have just been unlucky and got a bad one.
Tiramisu is my favourite dessert but honestly, it was so bland the other night that the Tesco own brand wouldn’t have been nicer!
I’ll try it again next time I’m in, to be sure.

Myself and the other half were out shopping last night in Scotch hall and wandered into The Hops bar part of the D hotel for some food.

We each had a portion of chicken wings, spicy and BBQ, they were delicious, the small portion had plenty of wings in it and plenty of meat on them too.

Main courses we had a burger each, the new Yorker burger with chips, very large burger and tasty, meat of the burger slightly charred taste too much.

Place wasn't overly busy and they run a sunday - Thursday special of buy 1 get one free on burgers/wings/pizza etc.

The total bill came to 43 euro for 4 pints of Heineken, 2 portions of wings and 2 burgers , cant fault that for the feed we got.

Only downside was that the service was slow and they didn't take away our empty plates after finished our mains, had to move them myself to the next table.

Sometimes steak frites isn't on the lunchtime menu but if you ask for it they'll do it for you.

Had the steak sandwich in dvine recently it was very good. Its a quiet place for lunch, I guess most people see it as an evening place to go. Everywhere will be packed for lunch over the next week so would be useful to keep in mind.

Been to a few favourites recently, quick summaries below.

1) Ming Garden - First time here in about 20 years, enjoyed it!
Mrs Ox thought the meat in the beef and black bean sauce was very nice and tender compared to the beef in Woks Cooking which can be quite tough sometimes.
I had a duck dish which was...fine.
An enjoyable and pleasant meal with nice ambience and decor, will drop in again over Christmas.

2) Simona's - One of our favourites, never disappoints.
Homemade diavolo pizza slices and fries, delicious!
Always great food and lovely staff.
Only drawback is it's very noisy when busy, but we're used to it at this stage.

3) D'Vine - Again, one of our favourites.
We always go Saturday lunchtime which gives great value.
Starters, tapas, wine, and the ridiculous steak/frites (a sensational rib-eye steak and chips for 12 quid!) Love it!

4) Punjabi House - Always enjoy our meals here.
BYOB, lovely staff and amazing food.
A treat we try to reward ourselves with at least once a month.

Hope to try Tribe in Duleek soon, never been but very curious to see what it's like.

P.S. I enjoy reading and contributing to this thread, keep the reviews coming and happy christmas!

Tried the thatch last weekend. Burger was tasty but small and chips we're scarce in a small bucket thing. Missus had a curry but wasn't into it.
Nice decor and attentive staff, but I'm more into the grub than the ambience!

90% empty.

Took over 25 mins to make a burger. Won't be back.

Loved The Spire as well. For some reason Tribe hasn't grabbed me. Think it might be a little pretentious (not sure if that's the word I'm looking for) and definitely a little pricy. Think pricing might hurt them in the long run.

Wow. Just as good as I'd heard, if not better.

Ah the decor was so underwhelming though.
If you’re going to open a restaurant in an old church, make it something special.
It was so boring inside.

Tribe, I’m not mad about - been twice and wasn’t blown away.
However the decor and atmosphere is fabulous.

Had dinner out in Tribe in Duleek last weekend. Pricy enough but the food was tasty and its a lovely venue. The cat that greets you at the door is a nice touch! Staff were a bit pushy with extra drinks & the desserts though, could tone down the extra sales pitch a little bit

Another great diner out at Aisha. First time trying their 'meat mezza' and the starter selection was amazing, and a lot of it too - I always loved their falafels and hummus, but rest of the stuff was brilliant too. Kofta etc, and their chicken drumsticks are the best I've ever had - well balanced spicy, soft & moist. Mains were equally great - dijaj mansaf and dawood basha, chicken and meatballs respectively, however we couldn't finish them after that huge starter selection, so they ended up coming home with us (doggy bags) which was plenty for another night's dinner (we cooked some lebanese rice to go with them).

There's something cool about bringing our own favourite plonk (err.. aldi's finest) and drinking away while enjoying these top class exotic dishes. Long it may last.

Theres 3 course meal for 2 people 25e in Duende on pigsback. You cant book for month of December but it's a great deal. Felt like I'd robbed the place last night. Food was lovely, staff very friendly, nice atmosphere. Burger great too...

I know it's not exactly Drogheda but close enough in Cloigherhead is La Pizzeria. I used to frequent it when it was based in Peter St and loved the food and atmosphere of the place. I have to say i was very impressed after bringing the Mrs there over the weekend.
The garlic bread is the exact same as they used to do it but no Pizza Drogheda on the menu. One of the waitresses overheard me saying this and they made one up for me like the good old days. Top notch grub and very reasonable. Will definitely go again.

I'd been a few times since it opened & it was always fairly busy. Seemed to be the exact same as the other branches as well, nothing fancy but good value for money.

Very good lunch at Bia yesterday - kids love their fluffy pancakes with maple syrup. Their full breakfast was perfect, and herself who ordered the steak sandwich thoroughly enjoyed it too.

Tried breakfast in Donegans over the weekend, sausages were a little bit bland, tomato was undercooked, but apart from that it was clean, tasty and plentiful. Nice coffee too. Service was good, very prompt, and the bar is very comfortable. Definitely be back if in town or coming from north in the morning.

Sorry I meant would location have something to do with it, not a great spot for passing footfall. I pass there once a week and new something was there but didn't know it was 50/50. Decent grub in their other restaurants.
