Bigger women - secretly liked

I'd really like if this could not turn into a fatty bashing thread but I won't hold my breath. So I'm a size 16-18 myself and while I'd definitely like to be toned and less wobbly, I'm not too bothered about my actual size, though my self esteem tends to fluctuate. I actually prefer bigger women myself. I used to be on this feeder website and I was really surprised how many men loved chubby and bigger women. So my question is, do you think it's not as rare as we're led to believe and that some men secretly like bigger women but it's not acceptable in society to say so?

I'm sure OP is correct, it has to work that way too.

There's a lot of BS narrative about what attractive or sexy means. I hate model looks, I find it creepy. Give me nice and burly and happy and natural.

Yeah, honestly like, I was overweight for sure but I wasn’t massive. I was about 1.5 stone overweight for my height. Well, 1.5 stone above the upper level of healthy weight for my height. It wasn’t a huge amount and it only took me about three months of taking it nice and slow with the weight loss to get myself within the healthy range again. I was 32” but I suppose two extra inches on top of that might read a lot wider. I dunno!

Given the average Irish woman is a size 16 and statistically most people are coupled up, I don't think it's any secret that men can be partial to the bigger lady.

I've found there can be a pattern to the attraction I garner based on my weight fluctuations. Granted I've never gained or lost monumental amounts of weight, but as a 5'1 lady, every pound can make a difference. I've been a UK size 4 - 14 and got attention from vastly different types at each end of the spectrum.

Top end and it was a lot of "ethnic" types, black men, latino men, or men that were similarly overweight. Lower end and it was jock types, athletic types, gym addicts and classicly goodlooking types, and then a LOT of negative attention from women interestingly. "Don't lose anymore weight, you'll disappear!" despite looking pretty great as I was on a fitness and health buzz and am tiny in stature so can take the lower weight.

I find in general, people tend to be attracted to similarly proportioned folks, fat attracts fat and athletic attracts athletic, etc. Not often I see an obese woman with a fit as a fiddle guy.

Yeah I wouldn't rule out dating a woman if she was "bigger" at all. Far from it. Really wouldn't bother me at all.
Taller would be more of an issue for me because society has conditioned us that way, I'd feel strange going out with a woman who was significantly taller than me, which is absurd really but it's just that from all my female friends in the past they said they wouldn't date a shorter fella than them so it's stuck in my head.
That's the only phsyical thing that would be an issue for me. Slim or "big" wouldn't register much, more interested in whether they're the right person to have fun with and a chat on the sofa and feel comfortable with.
Mind, I wouldn't be necessarily more attracted to big built women than slim women either if that's the question.
Just wouldn't be a thing either way.

That's been my general impression too B. Certainly for me. I have tried to go outside that a couple of times and they were very nice women and any man would be happy out on that score, but I just didn't feel that animal attraction to the same degree compared to my "type"(basically lighter than me), even if said type wasn't as sound in other ways. You can't force that feeling, or I can't anyway. Plus it narrows things a bit, because like you said the average is outside the range of my type. I am not saying I might not meet someone not my type and fall for them and have that animal attraction thing, but it's not happened yet.

Then again I'd also not apologise for my preferences. A few folks have said that they find thin women/people a turn off, even creepy

and I'd not give them static for feeling that. Whatever floats your boat and oils your axle. Though I have found a tiny bit of a trend where it's seen as more acceptable to say "ewww skinny women are a turn off, I want a "real" woman(whatever the holy hell that means)", but to say the reverse will more likely bring down the hounds of interwebs hell.

And I get why. People are getting fatter(more men than women actually) and fatter people are much more the butt of jokes and derision, which goes triple for women, who are bombarded with The Perfect Body(tm) for far longer and more often than men are. There are descriptions of eating disorders in women looking to get to the "ideal" going back to ancient Greece. In other cultures where fat women were more the ideal they had feeding houses and other means to fatten them up to make them "marriageable". The modern world has amped that up a lot, even more these days with distortions of reality where even the "ideal" women pictured are altered. Well it aims to keep women off kilter and self conscious enough to keep buying into diets and spanx and all that to keep the greasy tills ringing. The "real woman" guff is also money and advertising led, because with people getting fatter that's yet another market to plough and harvest. Because you're worth it. :rolleyes:

It's why I can never understand when I see, hear or read about feminist women commentators who are also big into fashion. That industry has a scary level of influence on how women feel about themselves and much of it bad. And like I've noted before a mere glance at the front page of a mainstream porn site over the course of a week will show more diversity of shape, age and ethnicity than has graced the catwalks of Paris or the pages of Vogue in a century.

At my heaviest (size 20),I actually had a boyfriend who was 8 stone/53kg. We broke up and he ended up going out with a girl even bigger than me so I guess that was his type. Though I was actually a size 12/14 when I first met him.

Sure, but that's the average H, which in general means that yeah there are a fair number of size 16's but for every size 18 there's also a size 8. If you like 8, 16, or 18 then just go for 8, 16, or 18. I see plenty of women of all sizes on a daily basis everywhere I look. I mean the average (natural)hair colour is likely a mousey brown, but there are a shedload of blondes and brunettes and redheads and all sorts of other colours out there. Nobody is forcing anyone into going for a specific feature. Though as Bitofabind pointed out like tends to go with like, so if you're into size 8 and are the male equivalent of a size 20 personal choice may be limited.

I'd be very much against comparing yourself to other people and taking your self worth from what men find attractive. That attitude and mindset is very damaging to your self esteem. All it comes to is where your body stores fat and theres nothing any of us can do about that unless we choose to go down the cosmetic surgery route. Is it any wonder so many women suffer from eating disorders and get plastic surgery? There is so much pressure to look a certain way.

At my smallest I was called everything from anorexic, to bulimic and told to go eat a burger. I have seen skinny bashing posts on social media many, many times, at one stage it became a social media trend to bash skinny women as an attempt to prevent eating disorders.

Its not really about being fat or skinny, it's really about having the perfect hour glass shape - unless you have big boobs, a tiny waist and a big backside like a kardashian, you cant win - most men say they dont like the kardashians or find them attractive but given half the chance thats the shape they go for.
I have seen men throw their lives away for women who have big boobs and a small waist, never take the chance to get to know her until it's too late and he realizes they have very little in common.

Its ridiculous to waste your time wishing you could live up to some superficial ideal because men think its attractive or the media focuses on it more than other sizes and shapes. That's one way in which eating disorders and mental health issues start.

If your not happy with yourself then change but only change for yourself and do it in a healthy, enjoyable way, develop your hobbies and skills and focus on other things besides how you look, theres much more to life.

Yeah I'd say I'm not attracted to fat or very skinny men in a general sense (think Ryan Tubridy). No apologies here, as you say that animal attraction isn't exactly something that's open to debate.

All of my exes have ranged from normal sized lads to very fit, now physically they all differed massively as far as features were concerned and what ultimately led things in the direction of a relationship was the much deeper stuff - personality traits, life compatibility, similar values etc. But that physical draw has to be there in some capacity starting off and I guess normal healthy fit bodies are most sexy to me.

I'm half joking with that but seriously, you should forget about what you or partners weigh and just enjoy being who you are.
I'm something like 5"9 or 5"10 there abouts I think, not short but not tall either for a guy.

Anyway, one night in a taxi home from a club yonks ago I was sitting into a taxi and as we were moving off a girl shouted rathfarnham in the window so I told driver to let her in and we agreed to share fare to same area.
She chatted away to me and asked for my number (bear in mind we're sitting in a taxi here) and we met up again and kissed and stuff but she eventually told me she wouldnt see me again because when she wore high heals she would be taller than me in photographs.
She wasn't even taller than me, just thinking ahead if she wore heals and a photo was taken :pac:

It's a great way of weeding out the superficial characters. If yer a wee bit too heavy or slim or not tall enough for high heal photos etc then ya probably had a lucky escape.

Whatever about people's personal proclivities towards overweight people (I personally find them unappealing), I find that a lot of the Healthy At Every Size bull**** on the internet to be incredibly harmful.

For those who are unaware, the Healthy At Every Size movement (that's ironic) purports that obese people are being discriminated against because of their weight, to the extent that even claims from the medical community that obesity effects a person's health negatively are said to be false.

My obese daughter showed me a few examples from social media, posts about how obesity is a personal choice and even observing that it's not healthy to be obese is some sort of misogynistic conspiracy by the Patriarchy. This is all despite the fact that the unhealthiness of obesity is extremely well-documented.

I was apoplectic when I saw them. Imagine some impressionable young teenager suffering from issues with their weight reading that propaganda. It's incredibly irresponsible that "grown" adults would share this kind of trash, only because they're insecure about their own weight and trying to shift reality to suit themselves. They can roll around in the muck as much as they like themselves but dragging anyone else down with them is inexcusable.

The only thing that matters in life is to be happy and give and receive kindness. People get far too hung up on physical appearance.
Of course if we're talking about obesity to the point of health issues then yeah you need to be careful but aside from that live and let live.

With both men and women it really depends on the way the weight is held. Personally I like bigger pear or (generally) hourglass shaped women at all as much as slender or athletic, both are equally appealing in different ways. Similarly many women are OK with a stocky or husky guy, but less so with a man who carried it disproportionately, like having a slender waist/legs but a big gut.

It's a funny perception thing despite it being all about genetics really. Woman A and Woman B could have the exact same height and frame and diet, but one could develop a heavy pear or hourglass shape, while the other develops a gut and big double chin. While I would generally find the former appealing the latter is the polar opposite to the point of personal revulsion.

So when people ask questions like "Do you like bigger girls/guys", it's pretty much impossible to answer with a black/white answer really, unless you're a person who's exclusively attracted to people who are slim/athletic/skinny (which is fine as a preference).
