Just reading this and wondering what’s the read?

How could someone pop a 75k claim for an incident like that?

Would it be a no foal no fee basis?

Who would pay costs in events like this as there obviously were costs?

Given the huge insurance problems we now have surely should there not be better control over stuff like this.

Not suggesting anything about the folk involved here, but can one kind of take a ‘ punt’ in situations like this and see how it pans out without any risk.

Seems very strange to me, I have to admit.

Some years ag i was knocked off my motorbike by a motorist [who did not see me] i was out cold don't remember the trip to hospital, lost a good part of my elbow, after nearly 3 years i was awarded 40.000 which for the type of injury i thought was a bit low,[think i had the wrong solicitor] a woman i know fell off a footpath in the main street and got 50.000 no injury just bruising recieved money within 6 months. it's a funny law when it comes to claims, but it has got out of hand .

Even though the business “won” their case it’ll go down as a claim against them and you can be sure their insurance company will put on a major increase on their premium.

From reading the report it's because the couple aren't appealing the ruling. Great system were you can cost a company several thousand Euro to defend a BS claim and then walk away with no consequences.
