Gynaecologists form a part of the multidisciplinary team who engage with transgender and non‐binary patients, either as part of the transition stage performing surgery or managing pre‐ or post‐transition gynaecological problems.

The @cpsbc_ca has confirmed to me that the refusal I’ve received is discrimination under the BC Human Rights Code and against their code of Ethics.

So @cpsbc_ca I’ll file a complaint with you today about that clinic. Trans people need to be included, not excluded from society. Pre and post gender affirming surgery care is super important!

How do you feel about this?

I'm not too sure, Trans people should have access to services they need, but I don't know if every gynaecological surgery should or could be able to handle cases like these...

I added more to my post. If a gynaecologist has no extra training to deal with transgender genital issues, and that’s probably a lot of gynaecologists, they may not feel qualified to treat the person. That’s sensible and I can’t see why it would be a problem. The doctor might be a bigot. I suspect they more likely didn’t think they had the qualifications.

If they didn't feel competent to treat a particular kind of cancer then they absolutely should refuse.

If they don't feel competent to treat this patient, and I'm sure lots of gynaecologists will have had no training at all with trans patients, then they are doing the correct thing by refusing.

It's much more "shady" for a doctor to say, sure I'll have a crack at something I'm not confident with, what's the worst that could happen?

I can’t imagine every gynaecologist will have that specific training. It would be a sub-speciality, most likely.

Ok, I'll try again, I have a torn meniscus and need an operation. I am under an orthopedic surgeon, he specializes in orthopedic procedures. This is the surgeon I need and want. Should I be able to demand my GP do the operation? They are all doctors after all right?

Not all Gynaecologists are are expert or even familiar in the field of trans pre/post op and therefore would have the right to refuse giving medical advice or even to see a pre/post op trans.

If the person needs to see a pre/post op Gynaecologists then they should find one who has knowledge instead of picking one who doesn't and then going on a rant.

This is akin to Gemma O'Donohue whinging about the Halal butchers not selling bacon.

A person who gender identifies as a male, a trans man, would go to a Gynaecologist because they are biologically a female. They could never get prostate cancer but could get breast, ovarian, uterine cancer.

Why on earth do you link the uterine transplantation in transgender women? Is it an attempt to make it seem normal and possible that biological males can gestate? In order to even get anywhere near that horrific scenario you need to get the uterus out of a dead woman or get a trans man (biological woman) to undergo even more radical surgery than a hysterectomy to donate more of their anatomy to fulfil a male fetish of having a baby.
