In any country which is serious about this issue, the Prime Minister would say “if our laws do not allow us to prosecute a former member of our defence forces in these circumstances, then we will bring forward legislation so that future cases can be prosecuted and severe sentence imposed.

Ireland should have put legislation in place years ago to handle cases where Irish citizens goes off to join a caliphate.

That this wasn't done points to either they were too stupid to see this coming, or they didn't want to do it at all.

Yes they should have but they didn't and now there is no legislation where they can keep her detained long term.
