if the syrians decided that this is what should happen or have happened, and in turn made such a request, then absolutely.
but to the best of my knowledge neither have happened, so i would imagine that they do not have any interest in having to take on and try her and any other of the foreign isis members that they haven't got, and therefore the foreign isis members have to go back to where they came from.

The Syrian state do not have control of vast parts of their own country, the parts Lisa was in included. How on earth do you propose that they could enforce Syrian law?

Its occupied yes. Under international law the Syrian borders have not changed. So these terrorists and there supporters should be tried in the country they committed offences.

BUT, I would have been far more accepting of this if Lisa Smith's repatriation was on condition that she did not make any moolah out of it, like LLS, interviews, books written and so on.

again, if that is what the syrians decide, then yes that is what should happen.
if they decide otherwise, which seems to be the case, not to mention as stated there are parts of their country they don't control, then as stated the syrians are not interested in trying them and they aren't going to do so, and people will just have to except it.

That is true but does not change the fact that Syria is completely incapable of imposing many of it's laws due to being war torn.

If she comes on a commercial flight she will just be another woman wearing a niqab coming from Turkey escorted by by a few men in plain clothes, no one on the flight will know but security will be extra tight, there is no risk to passengers.

When it comes to international obligation on this matter the Irish government have acted well. More counties need to take responsibility like this, it's not just a Middle Eastern problem.

When it comes to protecting our own country and citizens the same government have totally failed us. So may laws and procedures that should be in place for such an event but there is nothing and not even an attempt to rectify that.

I think an honest portrayal of her life would be a fascinating read.

What ever you think of her, going from a defense force whose remit is peace to marrying into a death cult is an extremely interesting story.

I remember listening to someone on Joe Duffy, I think it was, who knew her before she became a muslim. The woman speaking was muslim herself and knew Smith, was surprised that she converted and then really taken aback by how extreme and militant she became so quickly. Some people are just off the edge of things and really it sounds like it could have been any number of things to set her off on a mental life choice.

But she is an extremely rare breed, I don't think you would get a general blueprint from her, I think her story would be unique to her.

I don't know if an honest report of what happened is possible from her.
Has she had a history of mental illness beforehand?
Reports from a woman that knew her in the Dundalk mosque are that no one got into her head and radicalised her, she actively sought radical idealism. This can be backed up by all the men she deiced to divorce because she didn't think they were strict enough when it came to Islam and its teachings.

For what??? You want to make all the other passenger's nervous??? What exactly do you think she could do on the flight??? Attack some one with one of the plastic food forks or knives??? while minding her 2 year old daughter and flanked by security, back and front ??? The whole flight should be as low key as possible, nothing special to attract attention. Off the flight on arrival to Dublin, no press notified, straight through Customs and Passport control, out and into a waiting car...Job done!
