There has always been problems with the climate. It's all an excuse to tax, tax, tax. What about the RCP4.5? And now this nonsense about a pseudo-comparison with a non-existent thread. I wonder what will tomorrow bring?

The claims of the world ending in a decade does not bring anything to any debate, any more than than the weight of the L'Oreal stat of 1000 scientists agreeing this is true. As far as we know is the only thing we can say and even there within science there are questions about timescale. The whole thing has morphed into some type of gloom porn, which people will tire of if they haven't already. Once you get past the concept of a difficult change there need to be practical solutions. She has none, apart from listening to the scientists and scientists are too busy putting their names to documents en masse. That there is such a huge volume of paperwork regularly produced on this issue would encourage a cynic to ask if there is any other research going on in any other field elsewhere. If we have reached a tipping point it's in alarm-raising and it is time to move on to the practical solutions! So let's see what these scientists are made of!

Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly told EuroParlRadio that’s he’s all for “increasing ambition” to tackle the climate crisis but “you cannot force it on people without having something in place to do so”. Kelly said that even if Europe managed to become carbon neutral there’s “a bigger job” to do.“Maybe a more important job is convincing the Brazils the United States, the Chinas, and the Indias of this world, that they have to be as ambitious as us, then we’ll really make progress”.

Is individual action pointless in the face of climate change?
"The point", she told me as we bobbed in Plymouth Sound, "is to create an opinion. By stopping flying, you don't only reduce your own carbon footprint but also that sends a signal to other people around you that the climate crisis is a real thing and that helps push a political movement."
"So you're trying to make the rest of us feel guilty?"
"No", she replied calmly, and explained she doesn't think it is her job to tell other people how to live their lives. Rather, her convictions must guide her own behaviour.
"I don't fly because of the enormous climate impact of aviation per person."
Previously, she's tried attending conferences by video link but it just doesn't make as much of an impression. "I think it will have a bigger impact if I and many other young people are actually there".
We are not the free-thinking independent spirits we imagine ourselves to be
What we know as social psychologists is that people are very influenced by what others do, even though we don't think we are
"It's a paradox. We think we make our own decisions, but the truth is we look to others for guidance about how we should behave." When it comes to climate change, the problem is that we just aren't getting the cues we need from our friends and families or, for that matter, from government and business, she says.

Regarding climate change, she thinks that the IPCCreports typically neglect what she calls the "Uncertainty Monster"[4] in projecting future climate trends, which she calls a "wicked problem."[5] Curry also hosts a popular science blog in which she writes on topics related to climate science and the science-policy interface.[6] In 2019 she stated that she would not “bother with” peer-reviewed journals, in favor of publishing her own papers so that she could editorialize and write what she wanted “without worrying about the norms and agendas of the ‘establishment.’”.[7]

At the dinner table, instead of a swear jar we have a hypothetical climate change jar, because the amount of times I talk about climate change is ridiculous. We emailed the 'Toy Show' about making a stand on plastic and trying to bring in more environmentally friendly toys, so we'll see if they paid any attention. It's all about educating people.

That very odd position not only assumes a fallacy of opposition but where anyone points out that something lacks validity, you bizarrely believe - it is necessary to come up with an alternative. News for you - it doesn't. And get out of here with 'the message greta is trying to communicate'. She's a teenager - apparently prone to tantruns and exaggeration and getting her own way. And yet hilariously we have those who would hold her up as shining light. But you know that already. And interestingly my position on the issue you allude to above has not changed btw. So less of the old daft personalisations there thanks.
