Gary Rhodes, Celeb Chef, dies at 59

Gary Rhodes, the celebrity chef known for his spiky hair and passion for British cuisine, has died aged 59.
According to a family statement, he died on Tuesday "with his beloved wife Jennie by his side".

About the only human being that was a TV celeb chef.

He also made normal food - served on plates - that you actually wanted to eat. Seemed like a nice man too.

I always enjoyed watching his shows. When having spiked hair was edgy for a tv chef.
He did seem really nice.
I bought one of his cook books in a charity shop a few years ago and was impressed with a lot of the recipes.

Always struck me as a very skilled chef, while other chefs were running around the kitchen like headless chickens (no pun intended) he was able to conjure up great dishes with a real deft touch and the minimum of effort.

Grew up with watching him and the likes on ready steady cook. His shows were great far more characters then most of the new chefs nowadays

Eek! That’s a shock. No age really. Wouldn’t have been my favorite TV chef, but not the worst either. Remember he had a restaurant near Capel St for a few years. RIP.

Bit harsh, no ? I know he grates (pun absolutely intended) on some people but I think his heart is generally in the right place, and a lot of his food would inspire you to want to try make it, unlike some of the TV chefs.

All these celebrity chefs have died off really TV wise no pun intended. Seems there out of fashion now I'm going by the BBCs schedule. I liked Gary seemed kind of serious and a more traditional chef RIP.

I'm sorry but it is quite the opposite. I can name at least 5 or 6 TV Celeb chefs that are regularly on screen. When i was growing up, there was maybe one or two
