Wasn't sure where to post this but the crappy old charge point in the Tanyard in Tullamore has been replaced with a new unit. Old one had only one side working for months but thankfully both are working now.

The battery never really goes below 30 % of 12 kW, newer models have closer to 14 kW.
From my experience he will get about 6 kWh to 80% into the outlander in 25 minutes, another 25 minutes to 95 %.
Saving/costs are about right, 3.8 euro for fuel and around 2 for charging.

2? I get the Outlander being a moron, but are you saying the Leaf 40 is a moron too, for using the AC? God knows how long the outlander will be there, may as well get some charge in while waiting.

Why is the outlander a moron? In my opinion he is the smart guy, if there was a tesla,leaf and niro all wanting to charge, he could drive on, the other 3 will still be waiting.

I don't know about that, anecdotal evidence here, but for the last 2 evenings on the way home, the fast charger at Newlands Cross has been free, while for the last few weeks before that there has been 1, 2 or 3 EVs charging/waiting to charge.

It seems to be working, if you look at the chargepoint map. I've been randomly checking and there are definitely more chargers available than before fees to charge started.

I suspect there will be so some who avoided installing home chargers who will now be incentivised to purchase one.

I think declaring pricing a failure only a couple of days after it was introduced is a bit of an over-reaction.

Not everyone will have figured out that they are being charged now. In fact, I'm willing to bet a small number of people with ESB cards haven't realised that their cards no longer work, but don't really know how the charging machines work, and just plug in their cars and hope for the best.

Yesterday I done 80 km on electric, I sat in a car and charging, should I be a moron and sit in the car not charging?

I value my time and I value my money, if I have the time I charge, if I don't have the time I don't.

Moronic is stuck at a charger waiting on another to finish charging, why would you give yourself only one option?

you do not have to blame locals or freeloaders any more, it was your choice to be stuck at a charger, because of the car you bought,

i have done 3500 km on 36 liters of petrol = 280 mpg or something like it.

I find it moronic that your attempt to save money leads you to call others moronic that don't have to wait as you do.

I somewhat agree with you regarding sitting a charger and waiting for a space to free up. That person may have bought the wrong tool for the job. Or perhaps they're just on a rare long drive out of the cars electric range and are using the charging network to get back home. I assume they're not waiting for the hell of it, they need to charge. Their circumstances don't give them the option to utilize their time any better. The outlanders setup does.

The outlander might be saving money, but i'd assume the owner has skills which pay better than the €2.20/hr they're saving each time they charge at a FCP vs using petrol to drive home and charge. It's akin to me spending many weekends or even taking days off work to do some home DIY, when I could pay someone to do it. It might look as though i'm saving money, but in fact the hours I put in vs the money I saved could indicate i'm wasting money.

One car household, did not want to be like the 2 leaf's, budget, wanted something big and fugly,
To be fair, I have had phev watch dog 3 months and it did not record all my trips,I quoted what it recorded. I know I missed a 350 km trip that I got 45 mpg on,
In total since march 7800 miles and spent 275 euro on petrol, most of which was spent on trips 6 trips to Dublin.

Glad to see you can multitask, did it ever occur to you that the outlander driver is doing the same, point I made earlier, but no the outlander is a moron, its probably better you stay away from anything to do with DIY, giving your limited ability to understand why someone would want to use a charger.

Yup. I stand by that. Moronic to give such little value to your time. If you have time to kill, go for it (it's still a waste of your time), but to be inconsiderate to others while doing so... it's not moronic, but i've another word for them.

Sure, I don't know all the details, but nor do you.
What excuse am I making for the EV? If they don't need to charge and are queuing up to pay more to charge publically than they would at home, then they out moron that outlander. Given that option, i'm going to assume they're queuing because they need to charge. They have no other incentive to wait.

No one that I can see is dismissing or ridiculing the Outlander, or indeed, PHEVs in general. They have their place & suit many.

The issue is a PHEV using the rapid charging network, unnecessarily, while delaying BEV drivers who have no ICE engine to get them to their destination.
You'll never accept that is wrong, that's clear & you're entitled to your opinion.

Anyway, I've to pop up to my local rapid charger now, my PHEV's been plugged into the slow AC socket for hours - it'll surely be full by now
