Anyone have any ideas what you can take for a cold when pregnant?
Been drinking lemon, honey and ginger all weekend but it's not shifting. Took today off work as a precaution as I dont want it getting any worse!

I was told only plain paracetamol by my Dr at my first visit

Not much else. Some good quality vitamin c and rest rest rest. Plain paracetamol but I don’t think you can even take the recommended dose in 24 hours.

Thanks all!! I may pick up paracetamol and some more vitamin c tablets. Hopefully it doesn't drag on for too much longer!

Good Morning Girls

How are you feeling?
I had my first visit in the Hospital yesterday. I am really impressed how everyone is nice in Coombe and helpful.
With our baby is all good, we seen on the screen, beautiful 5 cm !
Today I am going again to do the test to see if there is a risk of Down Syndrome. The cost is huge (400€) but we have decided to go for it.

My next scan is on 23 of December but probably I will go private in the end of November.

Hi guys,
Haven't posted yet. Going unreg here as I don't want people who know my unsername on Boards to know.

I'm 10 weeks today. Feeling much better this week and last week. The last few weeks have been a torment of nausea and feeling so bad in general.
Had our first visit in Holles St a few weeks ago and they were absolutely brilliant. I have to see a specialist because of previous medical conditions, and they did a little scan and all while I was there.

Has anyone else got an uncontrollable hunger? Eg. I'll eat porridge and fruit at 8am and by 8.45 I am absolutely starving and my stomach is rumbling so loud. It's embarrassing how much I'm eating at my desk in work and the noise of my stomach

Hi, hope you don't mine me asking. Was there something on the scan to suggest downs and that's why you were testing? Just wondering if it's something they pick up on for when I go for my own

No, there was nothing on the scan suggested this. We just did this for our own knowledge. The harmony test also detects the gender , so in 7-10 days we will know if it is a boy or girl. It is our personal choice. I seen a lot of women doing this.

My gynecologist asked if I was going to get this done - but at the time it was too early.
I said I wasnt sure (It hadnt occurred to me!) and that I would talk to my husband about it.

Ive been to the midwife since and the Dr and it wasnt mentioned (Im going public just paid for scan with my gynacolgist when i was 6.5 weeks) so I assume if its something you want you have to ask for it you arent offered it?
we arent going to go that route anyway

It's a privately paid-for test.I know the Rotunda are saying to people at 12 weeks it is something that they can do, but it is 300-400eur in cost, regardless of whether you are public or private as the tests go to a lab for analysis.There is a window of time, about 10-12 weeks and i think it is general genetic testing -gives the odds of certain genetic issues.It is called Harmony or NIPT (that I know of.)It is not a routine thing that hospitals do.

You should also be offered a 'big' scan or anomaly scan at 20-24 weeks that looks at the baby's development and can identify certain markers for things such as Down's, as well as looking at how the baby's organs etc are developing.This is offered as standard by most hospitals (although some don't mainly due to resourcing issues, I think), and will be part of your appointment schedule.

Has anyone experienced a levelling off of symptoms? I had quite bad nausea and sore boobs until the weekend and now it has more or less tapered off. Well, still the odd wave of nausea but nothing like the last few weeks. I know that this can happen when the placenta takes over, but thought this would be later.

Mine definitely aren’t as bad as they were. Still waves of nausea regularly but I’m not feeling green anymore.

Yes the sore boobs and the fatigue have definitely diminished this week for me! Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

Hey, how is everyone doing?

Its been a hard few weeks here, had a scan a week ago & the dr wasn't happy with the heart beat, so had to go back after a week, thankfully baby was bigger and heartbeat much stronger, it was a long week waiting to see what was going on & OH was away so I was shattered with the 3yr old & work.
She's put my due date back a week, but seems happy enough. Wants to see me again in 2 weeks. She's lovely but seems very intense. She put me on progesterone pessaries for a month. Still nervous but feeling better after hearing the heartbeat.
Still feeling very tired and nauseous which I am trying to appreciate! I need to snack practically ever hour or my head is over the toilet! Lots of nuts, dried fruit etc.. and salty potato-y kind of foods!

Aww God such a scary time but seeing the little heartbeat is a great sign! I have my midwife booking app 4th and 12 weeks scan the 8th of Nov! Hoping the time flies in now. I did have an early scan at 6 weeks and got to see little heart beat but already counting down days to next scan. Back to work tomorrow after a week in Tenerife so not too excited about that! Has anyone told their jobs they are pregnant? I will be 10 weeks this week so think I will tell my manager and bring my app letters to let her know they are coming up soon

Hey all, possibly a stupid question, how long did it take ppl to get their hospital appointments? I booked online with holles st on the 10th but have heard nothing back. Dunno if that isn’t long a wait and I’m just being impatient or if I’ve possibly screwed up the booking.....

I told my manager near enough straight away
They needed to do a risk assessment and I just felt like I had more support with them knowing and not to be sneaking off to appointments :rolleyes:

I got two weeks notice of my booking in appointment in University Hospital Waterford, so around when I was 10 weeks pregnant. I know all hospitals are different but I would say your appointment letter gets posted a set no of days/weeks before your appointment rather than from the date you notified the hospital.

I got my letter for Wexford last Friday
The appointment is for end of Dec:D

Hope everyone is doing well. We are going to try to get our scan booked in for Wednesday. If my dates are correct, should be 10+5 then. I'm so nervous after my last MC. I almost expect them not to find a heartbeat

Will hopefully have an update on Thursday morning.

Does anyone know if we need to see a GP before booking into a maternity hospital?

I booked my appointment early in September for Holles Street and I got the appointment letter less than a week later.

Just filled the form online there and they said booking packs are generally sent out within 5 days.

You probably don't have to, but unless you are going private, you will be seeing the GP during and after your pregnancy and they are usually the ones who fill in the paperwork to get you into the HSE free pregnancy visits system.

Don't worry, everything will be fine.

I had a scary situation couple of days ago. I realized i was bleeding in the night and went straight to emergency at 3 am. They did urine/ blood test but on the usg monitor they could not see the baby!
I thought i will die, they asked me to come back the next day as the equipment was not good enough. So stressful! In the end is all good, I seen my little one, now i am on the week 13th and with baby is all good.
