Eir are bringing out a new offering called GoMo at 1130am today. It's a new mobile virtual network. All you can eat data (really 80GB) for €9.99 a month for the first 100k customers. Calls, texts and all that jazz. 10GB EU roaming data too. You can use it as a hot spot. 30 day rolling contract too. Still waiting to check the very fine print.

ComReg has introduced two measures designed to address the cost of using such numbers and also tackle confusion among consumers about the differences between the numbers. The changes being introduced by ComReg are:

Geo-linking Condition: from 1 December 2019, a call to an 1850, 1890, 0818 or 076 [VOIP calls] NGN will cost no more than the cost of calling a landline number. This means that if landline calls are included in your “bundle of call minutes” then NGN calls will also be “in bundle”. No separate charge will apply for any NGN call (unless you have used up your bundle of call minutes).

NGN Consolidation: From January 1 2022, the five NGN ranges will be reduced to two. The 1850, 1890, 076 ranges will be withdrawn and the 1800 (Freephone) and 0818 range will remain. This 3 year period is to allow organisations that use NGNs time to prepare.

So from December, 1850, 1890, 0818 and 076 call will be included in the unlimited GoMO bundle.

Eir speeds and GoMo speeds will be similar to each other based on location, traffic and handset.

Eir engineer confirmed today and real world testing in the same building confirmed today in Dublin City.

All lo-call numbers will, by law from the beginning of December, have to be included in all call packages (most will be phased out over the next 2 years)
Nearly all providers have included them at this point including GoMo

Im currently with eir in Dublin... I get between 4-8mb. They aren't that quick as it is...

Still changing to gomo though as its a 20 quid saving each month!

From what I could find online eir supports 1800 and the phone supports 1800
(found mention of 800 but there's conflicting specs on that)

Your mobile has nothing to do with your home broadband - if your phone already as a wifi profile set for your VF router then it will still continue work fine.

If I was to switch can I still use my Vodaphone WiFi and thunderbird for e mails at home and when I am away from home I can acess the Eir Coverage

Meteor and eMobile/Eir (and now confirmed for GoMo) use the same MNC (mobile network code) code (03, though eMobile also used to use 07) which is the code used for locking a phone to an operator, that is why you could use each others SIM when they were locked.

Southside near CUH. I’m up to two bars now but still only 3G and poor speed.

There is a 14 day cooling off cancellation option with GoMo so something to look forward to!

Absolutely spot on, I’m still on eir and I did a speedtest in the centre of Waterford City about half hour ago and got 52mb down, 5 mins later I go 13mb, fact is, I’d never have noticed it if I was checking speeds. Most of the time 5mb is perfect for what we are all using our phones for.

I ported over yesterday from Virgin Sim Free. Data working fine but cannot receive any calls or texts from any other mobile number. Anyone else with the same issue?

I think we have to wait a couple of weeks to see if this is worth using or not because basing this on a couple of speed test is not realistic.

Speed tests shown here are simple tests that can have different results depending on browser used, amount of users at the time and servers used.

Once enough people post their real live experience streaming or downloading Spotify/Amazon Music/Tidal etc. or watching Netflix or speed of download from the play / apple store than we will know.

As to the delivery delays, they clearly underestimated the amount of people willing to swap, but giving how change resistant Irish customers usually are that can be excused.

Let’s see how they are in real life with download speed and voice quality (HD voice for example like on EIR) and was than we will know what to make of it.

Right now I will for sure invest 9.99 to test it. If it does not work for me I simply cancel. I had mostly good experience with EIR network (not the customer service the network) but they just got to the expensive.
