I have relocated to Sunny South Mayo

Most of my updates will be from there now
It’s a fairly elevated side exposed to w/sw
So the wind not the rain is now my enemy

S. Mayo is statistically duller, wetter, cooler, and as you say, windier than Athenry. :P

In south Laois we're at 46.1mm for October. (as of 10am this morning)
The year is at 633.6mm. (again, as of 10am this morning)
This is the manual recording figure.

Wettest months: March 123.7mm; September 113.2mm; August 88.5mm
Driest months: May 7.8mm; February 33mm; January 35mm.

The weather station in UCG recorded 27.6mm yesterday, while the Met station in Terryland, which is basically on the other side of the bridge from the college, recorded 26.1mm.

is for the Terryland station operated by Met Eireann. It should be quite good for calibrating with if you live in/around the city.

Its unreal the amount of rainfall since August. So glad I'm in the east couldnt cope with all the rain in west.

To think there were people on boards last year panicking about the drought + freaking out that yearly rainfall totals would drop dramatically in Ireland.

I hope they are reading this thread!

The reason some people were panicking as you say yourself is because their livelihoods depended on it,grass wasn't growing cuz of the drought and it was costing big money to fodder cattle,I don't remember anyone looking for lots of rain,just enough to get grass growing

Was out for a run on the old N11 around Jack Whites when that cell came over the hills to the west- biblical rain and wind really picked up as it approached. was a tad damp afterwards!
