Storm Lorenzo Chat Thread.

The suggestion was made earlier in the 'Lorenzo' thread to open up a separate thread for general discussion on this potential storm. I think this is a good idea as that thread is now incorporating both technical discussion and more banterish posts, which is making it harder to follow.

It is probably best if we keep the original thread where more technical discussions & charts etc can take place to allow people to have a quicker access to the latest thoughts on the storm, and keep this one for more general chit chat and reports etc.

No, firstly it hasn't properly started yet and secondly if they didn't give a high enough warning people would be complaining for the other reason so its better to be safe than sorry

I didn't catch any news reports and my only sources are boards and online reports plus met eireann's website. I haven't heard any theatrics anywhere. Where are the ott predictions? Daily Mirror?

Lovely here in Dublin. Sky this morning was a very electric looking red at the docks. Girl came out of her coffee shop job to take a picture while I was in the que.

Lorenzo has a huge wind field and the edge of it is now coming onshore. This will be a long event for Kerry.

I know it's not due to hit until later this evening / tonight, but the wind has noticeably picked up in Galway in the past hour and a half. Passed a GAA pitch there a short while ago, and the flags at the gate were fairly blowing.

Well I've often seen it throw a huge splash over near black head, you'd have to wait for a set of wave's to stop,then drive through.
Like sitting out in the surf waiting for the next set of wave's.

I've seen Dogfish thrown up on that road on huge swells or onto the rocks...

Met E need to rein it in a bit also. All this nonsense of emergency coordination meetings only adds to the sense of impending doom. Surely such meetings can be held over Skype or in private? And I noticed the revenue commissions were there... For what? Proposing to tax us for every gust over 100 kmph?

They are to benefit the politicians, as the radio said this morning politicians want to be seen talking to “experts” so that they can say they knew disaster was going to hit and they can’t be blamed for it.

It’s optics.
