Don't take me up wrong, it's not a case of being too light for the factory. Its a case of adequate fat cover. I am going to kill cattle in next few weeks and they will average 270 kgs dead but they will have fat cover 3 = or that's what I'm hopping for.
You need to put up a pic or get someone to look at them. Live weight is imateral as long as they have the required fat score.

Thanks lads, only thing we usually send to the factory is a stock bull every few years, everything else goes to the mart, I’ll ring a lad I know to have a look at them.

I'd advise anyone that has cattle to go in next few weeks to get booking them in now

Because it graded 0-4+ which attracts a 30c penalty from the base price. It will get the new bonus agreed of 12c.

A neighbour got in five for next week, all had to be whiteheads, he has a good few cattle and no sheds, land is getting very wet now

3.45 afalk. Maybe you are well in with an agent but ld be surprised if you do get in with a load together. And you may well.

Very poor Journalism by Adams Woods he obiviously has an issue with some breeds of cattle.

The Sim steer and Hex heifer are the most glaring examples. I expect any Sim steer that ios 4+ FS at 380kgs to be grading O+/R- at least. A sim steer weighting that much would usually only be FS 3+/4-. Even under finished Sim steers that weight would be O= at least.

His example of a HEX heifer at 330 kgs grading R+ would be as rare as hens with teeth unless they came off a BB cow. Good Hex heifers that weight just about scrape into R- at best. Hex heifers would have a better chance of grading O- than the Sim steer especially as a lot of factory have breed specific days that they take HE and AA cattle I wonder why. They probably have to recalibrate the grading machine for Adam to get his R+ Hex heifer. The funny thing is from the pictures shown the Hex heifer is an O grade heifer and the Sim steer is an R grade animal

Next the LM steer which looks more like a red Charolois at 400kgs DW and 4- FS I expect him to grade R+ at least and be touching U- even at that weight and FS. The 400kg Charolois again would unlikely to be a U= at 400kgs DW and 3+FS.

Got €3.50 during the week for steers. They were booked in before the last round of protests. Poor price but they weighed well as they should have went a few weeks ago.

I have 16 AAX to go. I will probably be able send them in small loads of 5-6 bullocks. How many cattle make up a load? Is there an advantage sending them together?

I notice that factories aren't keen on o&p cull cows at the moment. Also there is a plentiful supply of cattle despite what BP/Indpendent Farmers were suggesting during the blockades. Factories are backed up and are picking and choosing what they take.

Book them in now and you should have them killed within 4 weeks.
