Welcome to the Waterford GAA discussion thread.

This is consistently the most active thread don the GAA forum. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

- Personal abuse of anyone be they other posters, players, managers, referees, pundits etc. Any personal abuse will result in an infraction or a ban.

- Rumours about players'/managers'/anyone's personal lives. This should be self explanatory. Apart from being a dickish thing to do, it can lead to legal trouble for Boards.

- Trolling. Again, self explanatory. Trolls will be banned for a long time.

- Accusations of trolling. Report a post if you suspect it to be trolling. Do not call a troll out on thread as this will be considered back seat modding.

- Speculation into the identity of another poster. This is a site-bannable offence.

This list is not exhaustive. Either myself or another mod may add to this as we see fit. Just because a certain behaviour isn't listed, doesn't mean you can't be banned for it. The general Boards.ie rule of Don't be a Dick always applies.

If you feel a post breaks the rules, simply click this underneath the post in question to report the post and a mod will deal with it as they see fit.

So be civil to each other and happy posting.

Given that the thread regularly descending into tit for tat insults between posters, From now on, it won't be a card but a ban straight away for anything like this. The mod warning is clear in the first post but yet people still ignore it.
Also, I'd like to remind people of the ban on discussing players'/managers'/officials' private lives without any substance. You can be getting into libelous territory there. So a zero tolerance policy will be enforced as well.

I was going to post something very similar.....who had heard of John kiely prior to 2018 outside limerick. Did he ever play intercounty according to Wikipedia he was only ever a limerick panel member.......he dabbled with club and underage management prior to limerick senior appointment....on the face of it peter queally would have a better pre intercounty appointment CV than kiely......the big questions will does PQ have what it takes tactically, leadership wise and with this group of players ‘interpersonal skills’ that appear to be needed to gel them all together......don’t think there is any doubting his passion/commitment but as pauric fanning discovered this will not be enough...........

There are 10 teams quoted for the all Ireland next year we are joint second longest odds of 25/1 (Dublin Same) Laois at 500/1 are next.

I couldnt conceivably see him getting ANY other job assuming they were all there and he wanted it. Carlow or Kerry, maybe, Offaly probably. Is he really and truly the best man we can get? Or are we totally hamstrung by total lack of finances?

Who is asking why are we forced to shop in the bargain basket? Why is it always the cheapest handiest effort?

The local media to my mind have a lot to answer for in the lack of a robust challenge to the county boards failings over last 2 decades & in particular last 5 years. It’s a long list at this stage.

It’s one excuse to the next & a never ending blame circle, devoid of leadership, innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, the characteristics that the Waterford teams of last 20 years were full of.

If Queally is best we can really do, great I’ll wish him luck & be there supporting as per.

The whole county is at tipping point, hard questions need to be asked & more over people need to be held to account for their actions or is most likely the case, their lack of actions.

they should of siad to Dungarvan or any other of the west senior clubs with a similar agreement 'This home and away rule thing is only for group stage games and its our decision where to play knockout games'

Well first of all Waterford is restricted slightly from a geographic perspective if looking for an outsider. We realistically can source from Tipp, Cork, Kilkenny or maybe Wexford if anyone is around there and up to it.

The likes of Anthony Daly and Anthony Cunningham, or anyone else from Limerick/Clare/Galway are probably too far away.

Cork haven't had a good manager in years, and Wexford have an out of town manager. For an aspiring Tipp manager, you're probably better off working with one of their underage sides. Kilkenny have a few guys waiting for Cody's seat - but probably better for them to take an underage side or a smaller county where they can make mistakes without the same scrutiny.

When we did get outside managers we didn't exactly attract sought after high profile candidates. We got a cast off (Justin), and two managers taking their first senior intercounty manager roles (Gerald and Davy).

Waterford in 2020 is not an attractive role for a lot of candidates, regardless of what money is available. We'll end up getting someone eager to cut their teeth at senior level.

That would be three teams. Mt Sion, DLS and Abbeyside also all have 3 teams.

Once you play in championship in the calendar year a grade above you are no longer eligible to drop down. Players then have to be regraded by the club if they've played at a higher level to drop down for the following year.

All players are eligible to play in the County Senior leagues and remain playing for a clubs second or third team in championship.
