Probably not surprising, but happening earlier than I would have expected.

That is absolutely not the case

The senior championship this year has been very enjoyable. Corofin are an extreme outlier as arguably the greatest club team of all time but don't let that fool you that the standard beyond that is poor. Mbellew almost had them beaten in the final last year, Annaghdown the year before. Annaghdown are now out of the championship for 2019 at the group stage, Mountbellew have lost a group game this year and only scraped by Killannin in another. Its very competitive outside Corofin

Corofin will be caught eventually, and it may well be next weekend

Mountbellew have ran Corofin closer than other club team in recent years. They are a serious team who have been desperately unlucky to meet that Corofin team. They meet each other in the QF stage this year and while I expect Corofin to win, Mountbellew could run them close again.

From what I've seen myself in the past few years - outside of the obvious fellas who have county caps at this stage - guys like Gavin Burke, Darragh Silke (Corofin), Ben O'Connell (Tuam), Costello, Kirrane, Mannion (Milltown), Barry Goldrick, Mark Rohan, Conor Campbell (Claregalway) Robert Finnerty, Cathal Sweeney, Aidan halloran, John Maher (SK), Rory Greene (Killanin) Mikey Boyle (Killererin) Gormley (Barna). I expect Tomo Culhane to already be an addition to SK next year

I think its significant enough if there is a bit of a cull anyway and nearly sad in a way. Probably the first time in nearly a decade we probably will be going into a championship in more re-building mode than actually harbouring realistic hopes of winning it

Brian Murphy, James Stretton, Ryan O'Donoghue, Gary Boylan, Paul Towey and Liam Irwin have been brought in. Drake, Crowe, Regan and Diskin were let go.

Diskin is bit of a surprise. Must have been a lack of discipline there Id say

Not hugely surprised with any of the outgoing or incoming names.
Regan has had plenty of chances and while I’d love to have seen him grasp it, he didn’t do it. Drake has never really featured and apparently was roasted by Gary Boylan in a club game recently. Crowe always did what was needed when he got time on the pitch but obviously hasn’t had that in a while and if he hasn’t then there is a reason. Diskin is a bit of a surprise that he’s been cut already, but when he did get a game this year (I recall he came on as a sub in one game but I can’t recall which) he had next to no impact on the game.

If those lads that are incoming can show a bit of what they have promised then I would not be too concerned by the departures either.

The only one I'd question is Caolan Crowe. Like you said, he's done well anytime he played and always stands out at club level. The full back line is our main worry looking ahead to next year, With Crowe, Drake, Cafferkey gone and you'd imagine Higgins may not come back either.

He was with them at some stage but is back playing with Belmullet now.

Joined Cork from Sligo Rovers in January but according to this article https://www.extratime.ie/articles/23365/cork-city-unveil-capture-of-eoghan-stokes-as-gary-boylan-departs/ he never really got over an injury he got last year. Looks like he left in July but I think he has played a few games for Belmullet prior to July this year (I could be imagining things).
Either ways I’ve heard great things about him and he scored 8 points in that recent game against Ballagh, which a reliable source tells me was 4 from Free’s and four from play when the papers reported 5 frees and 3 from play. The frees he scored were ones he won himself, by and large.
Wasn’t at the game myself so basing this on second hand info.

I'd heard earlier in the year that was the reason why he disappeared for part of the league. Was dropped due to disciplinary reasons.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the games.

Hope to watch back the Saturday games via Mayo GAA TV.

Breaffy and Ballina Stephenites could be cracker.

Knockmore tend to give the Mitchels plenty to think about.

To be fair the fella that is supposed to have resigned has been saying for a good while that he would be retiring from the Board at some stage, first time I heard that was 2 years ago, so it’s probably not that surprising.

Mind you there’s another lad on that board that we could probably do without, but that’s for another day.

Are all the funds raised on the New York trip on hold/in cold storage or definitively lost?

Presumably the latter if the Mayo GAA have cut all ties.

Monies were lost on the 2014 trip too.

There has been mediation of some form in this dispute. Mr. O'Leary was in Mchale Park for the recent Burrishule match. I believe he got sorted with those tickets that made him spit the dummy out as well so hopefully we can move forward in unison. The County Board is going to be significantly changed at the next congress so the treasurer leaving is probably just the start of it

Think I'll go to Knockmore and Mitchels on Sunday. Haven't had a chance to catch a Mitchels game yet.
