Beep scheme - anyone joining

As above, €40 euro per calf, seems you can rent the scales for €50 euro.
Not sure on the number of weigh ins required. For me it would be ~800 euro, can’t say whether I’m interested or not

Yeah I got busy last night and had a quick search on the ICBF website and it seems fairly straightforward to register the scales from the video.

Read mine there. Best males at 1.3Kg/day gain. Sure, so much depends on recording the correct date of birth.

Some of my charolais bulls were doing up near 2kg/Day. Was nearly 2 months since I weighed them though. I'm sure that's come back a bit since.

Yes I have 3 excluded due to been under 100 days on the date of weighing (these are the 3 youngest and were born the end of May), My ADG's are between 1.42 and 1.15 (I have twins doing 1.17 & 1.21 but they are getting a slug of 3 or 4 cows) My 1.42 is actually from a 1 star cow with a value of €35, but I guess she could be losing points on docility (she can be stubborn but I know her and like her) My 1.15 is from a 2 star €57 a CHx cow, I was actually disappointed with her weight (to look at her you would think she was well over 700 kgs but she is 677 kgs.) I had her picked out to go next year anyway and this report hasn't changed my mind.
I assume now that ICBF have issued this report everything is in order.

Well now, they could have included >100 days and <300 days in the terms and conditions.

As they want them all weighed on the same day, does that mean you can't attach this calf's weight when it reaches 100 days?

I weighed calves at 5 weeks and the info was accepted. I guess I won't get paid till next year though.

You can put in the weights, my guess is that they exclude them on the reports as they would distort the accuracy or the reports, in the case of my 3 they were around 180 - 190 kgs this would probably give them a ADG in excess of 1.5 Kgs but with be only coming in around 33% of their mothers weight. I am assuming I will still get paid for them as they were born within the required time frame and were weighted.

Just checked there now on ICBF, the oldest calf is 212 days and youngest 114 days, just as well that weighing is delayed.

Great to see people sharing information. When I rang ICBF in the past, they said over 5 months of age for calf was ideal.

I don't remember seeing any of this in the terms and conditions.
I took it that calves could be weighed at and age, they were reccomending around 5 months but it wasn't a deal breaker.
I don't remember reading that all calves in a herd had to be weighed on the same day either, just that each calf and its mother had to be weighed on the same day.

I'd say the calves being excluded is just for the report purposes.
I think the projected weights on my report were a little exaggerated. They may have been doing ADG 1.6 in mid summer but that definitely isn't happening today!

They don’t have to be weighed the same time. I split the weighing for autumn and spring calves.

Got two separate reports though.

Yes all don't have to be weighed at the same time. But the cow and her calf must be weighed the same day. If you have 20 cows and calves you can have 20 weight dates and all would be fine once each cow is weighed with her calf.

Is it enough to upload the weights on the ICBF website? Or do they need to go on the agfood website?

Anyone here have a cow with a calf in July last year & another before 30th June? I know they state calf has to be on the cow but I have 2 cows with eligible calves both years

If you log into the ICBF under beep you should be able to see whose eligible. I would think myself only the calf who is sucking will be eligible as the calf cannot be weaned at time of weighing.

When I log into icbf, the cow has 3 cavles eligible, twins this year & one last year. Might as well weigh them all

Sure if that works for you, that would be a great scoop. I think I read alright that you get double payment for twins so you'll do well out of that.

Weighed mine today . 17 calves = E680, isn’t it as good as an extra calf in the year that’s in it.
