Do they give out and moan? Do you get docked pay? Or do they generally just leave you be and not punish you for something that you obviously have no control over?

I'm reminded of the, I believe recently fatal accident on the M50 where the motorway was practically closed for hours on end. Surely half of dublin was late for work? And employers are obviously aware that there's simply nothing you can do about it.

Or is it more down to whether the individual boss is a sound chap or an asshole?

When I was commuting across the M50 I'd be in the office most days for 08.00, but my start time was 09.00, so I was always given plenty of leeway on the odd day I wasn't in for 9 due to traffic.

Remember the day well that the M50 was closed due to the fatal accident. New boss had called an early meeting at 08.30 and one of the points on the agenda was time keeping :pac:

I arrived to the office just before 1 (and abandoned the car in the disabled space while I shot in for a piss), the other guy who had to come in via the M50 didn't get there until 2.30. We had phone calls to each other every 30 minutes to see how many yards each other had moved.

yeah dont think he will be racing around so lack of pull is grand. He learned to drive on my mums 1.4 golf which has similar power specs so he should be grand with it. Just trying to decide whether to go for the focus over a fiesta, but the focus is a pretty good deal

Agree with the above, I'm early so often I'd never have anyone dare bat an eyelid at me for being late :pac: that and I'm confident nobody was even aware I wasnt there this morning, but I do be in the car sweating, its the one morning someone would look for you and then you look like a sosage.

I've gone from an hour of straight driving, no traffic, in Ireland to 10 mins in light traffic here in the desert. I've also gone to a slightly longer working day but at least when I leave I'm home quickly rather than facing into a long trek. Also up at 5.45 to be at work for 7.00 which is strange to say the least.

What would have been the situation had Saabs built during GM ownership been fitted with the faulty part.

GM sold Saab before they went belly up - so would Saab owners have been totally on their own......

Takes me generally 19-21 minutes to get to work 21km. I only know these figures since I got the golf where it tells you the stats for the journey when you stop.

Generally school traffic makes no difference to me as I am in around 7.45am. The very odd time I would be late for whatever reason nobody in work would mind. Although they know well if we were to play the count how many hours I work each week game it would only go one way and it wouldn’t be me being short working hours.

Similar commute to me, where do you live? School traffic has added about 10 mins to my journey which isn't too bad, but it can be worse especially when its raining.

I think its a matter of main vs country roads, but if they to choose N3 then going through small town like Virginia will be a nightmare of a traffic.

If I was in a McLaren or Ferrari, I'd be sticking to the N3, they have a day to do it. The backroads in Cavan are a challenge in most normal cars.

Eyeing up an Audi A6 2.0TDI 177bhp S-Line (2012-2013 model). Anyone here ever have one before? What are yer opinions, anything in particular i should be cautious about?

Also any other recommendations on other cars I should consider?
