That's not really true, we do criticize Islamic nations for their crap human rights records. Human rights orgs such as Amnesty also heavily criticise them. You just think we should judge the individual based on their country's human rights record. Eg I know plenty of Polish people who think their country's human rights record is getting worse and worse, so I'm not gonna suddenly start judging the average Pole for the state of Poland.

Varadkar mustn't be doing too much wrong if some people here have to bring the man's sexuality into any attack on him.

In reality, there is plenty wrong with actions by his government. It beggars belief that somebody would even think about his sexuality. The same sort of thing used to be very common when talk about a female politician emerged; make insinuations about her irrationality/whatever because she's a woman, rather than attack her policies. Harney was a perfect example of that - a pernicious influence, our very own wannabe Tory - but then people would bring her gender and weight into it rather than focus on her policies, and give her a get out of jail free pass.

Ok but instead of using pride parade or the gay community change it to Hen parties or Stag parties.

In fact we have one day of the year where we parade around looking like right eegits but to be fair we have a great time doing.

Maybe look at the people involved with this event? Their beliefs etc...it is nothing to do with a sense of pride in being straight... Look at the people speaking at it (e.g. Milo Yiannopoulos), the organisers, the flags and groups involved.

I genuinely haven't seen anything particularly non PC in the Dublin pride parade, have you actually been to a pride event here? The event last year in Smithfield square was very family friendly, a kid might see a man in a dress its hardly a reason to clutch your pearls.

Its also not as if Pride is for every LGBT person, I know plenty of people who wouldn't in a million years want to go to or feel they are represented by it as an event in any way. For example this year I went to the alternative pride protest, I dont agree particularly with the bizarre and ever increasing commercialisation of the pride event it has become less about Pride as a protest to try and highlight social issues etc, and more about selling corporate entities (tesco, BOI etc).
