This will actually be Corks 20th All Ireland Minor football final. We have won 10 and lost 9 so far.
Unfortunately we have lost 3 to Galway in 1960,1976 and 1986. We have yet to beat them in a final so maybe today is the day!!

2 things that pleased me about the 2 wins underage at minor and u20

1. The fight and heart in the sides
2. The style of football. None of this kicking backwards crap. Always looking forward.

Thats true. We are right up there underage with the kerrys and dublins but it goes wrong somewhere in senior for some reason or the other.

It's all about structures and coaching. Two Irish lads won world silver in heavy weight schulls rowing today. Two years ago they were club rowers. Picked out and given focussed coaching.
Well done to Robbie ODwyer's lads today.

19 years since we won a minor. It does not guarantee success but it can help. It sure as hell cant make it worse.

Christ. They gave us some toasting. We wouldnt have won if kerry were there today. We just never beat them even if we had the better footballers.

So it doesn't follow that underage success leads to senior All-Ireland's.
The way some Cork football supporters are talking online this evening you'd think we are certain to win Sam within the next few years.

I don't think anyone is getting carried away. We are just happy to get All Irelands at minor and U20 so hopefully we can bring them on as we try to get back into the top division of the league and go further in the Championship.

Of course a lot of work needs to be done yet but we need a conveyor belt for the senior team and winning is a habit rather than the losing one which we seemed to have for the last while.

These wins are vital to get the belief going again but I know what you mean as well that it doesn't guarantee anything at Senior level. The minor manager said the team was lifted by the U20 win so every little helps

We won a minor and u20 all Ireland this year.After all the doom gloom, and depression about Cork football just enjoy it.I think most of us are not going to get carried away.The players im sure won't get carried away.But Cork football is in a good place right now.That was some come back from the dead.Galway thought they had it won.Only for us to get a goal seconds after, and then win decisively in extra time.It's just a great day to be a Cork fan.:)

Galway were better team for 40 minutes no doubt about it, but they played a blanket defense for that time, once they went little higher and game became more open cork were on top and in extra time Cork won it at canter.

What 1-6 to no score in u20 final after 10 minutes and then conceded goal with 20 seconds to go today and still go up other end and get one ourselves.

We have been slated so many times, I myself have slated Cork football throughout league campaign. But **** me it's great to see bit of pride, bit of belief, a never say die attitude and playing it with a positive attacking attitude. Its what we have lacked for years

Today means little from senior point of view. But it gives us some hope. These lads know the winning feeling and hopefully will rub off in coming years.

Super game to be at - agree that once Galway let their blanket defense slip we started to open them up - when Galway got that goal in injury time I lost belief but fair play to the lads they didn't and went for it - Corbett was outstanding all through

I thought it was interesting the spread of clubs represented - some small clubs getting their chance which is a critical development we need in Cork - we have the population FFS lets use it

That no. 22 for the Cork minors yesterday O donovan i think won the game for Cork in extra time. He was unbelievable. Great prospect for the future along with Corbett.
