Just looking into getting a little dash cam for my car. Just wondering does the majority of people that post on this thread have dash cams hard wired into their cars and if so is it difficult to do or would I have to get an auto electrical mechanic to do it?

Any advice is much appreciated.

It all depends what are your own DIY abilities. All the cars in the family have two dashcams each, all hardwired by myself, no problem.

My dash cam is hardwired. It's a dual lens (front and rear) cam, so it's a double cable running.
I was worried when I first started the job, actually I finished it in no time at all.

I've had a Nextbase 312GW for a couple years now. No complaints with it, but I want to get a rear cam now. Would I be better off getting a duel front/rear or just a rear? Any recommendations would be appreciated. I don't wanna break the bank, but at the same time I want something that produces decent video quality. It's not hard wired at the moment, but I'll probably look to do that for the new rear or duel. Cheers.

From above, anyone ever use the Nextbase 522 and the Rear Window Add-On camera? Both are discounted at the moment in Halfords, ~ €180 for the 2 of them, a saving of ~ €55 between them. Or pay the little bit extra for the Nextbase duo for €215 (down from €250 in Argos)? Or another make?

DUO reviews ain't great, and 522 mostly positive. Similar result to the digging I did around various review sites. The 612 unforunately is no good as I'm looking for a rear cam. I've been using a 312 for a few years, but am eager for the rear cam now as people just seem to get worse at driving every year.

Hi, i have purchased a Campark 4k dash cam and also purchased a new Kingston 32gb class 10 sd card to go with it, i setup dash cam up and put in new SD card and formatted it as per instructions, the problem is it started recording when i started car, then i stopped car and restarted and get on screen message "make sure SD card is available" i press ok and then drive on, it does not start recording, tried format again, starts recording at first then stop car and restart get same massage "make sure SD card is available".
Anyone have a Campark 4k or what the problem could be.

I am googling here, try formating on computer & retrying again on dash cam see does it still come up with same problem.
Another one reset the dash can if it has a reset button & see will it recognise the card or come up with the same fault.

Thanks for advice,did put card in PC last night to see of i could play any fails,no joy so done format, today same problem,also done factory reset on dash cam, no joy, after format it kicks in, but when you stop and restart again,same message, im going to try and set video quality to lowest setting 720 and see what happens, problem is dont know no if its card or cam fault.
